  1. Thank you Pete, there is a ferule on the cable and have adjusted it as per different manuals and does make a bit of difference. The problem is that it hangs on to 2nd gear until you are doing about 45 to 50mph unless you take your foot off the throttle for a few seconds then it goes into top. Without the cable connected it will go into top at 30mph. Very odd as everything feels smoother. I just cant find if leaving it off will damage the box, so i guess i will have to leave it connected. Thank you again, Alf.
  2. Hi everyone, i have a 1972 2000 auto. Whilst working on the carbs i went out to test the car without the kickdown cable connected. The result was the gearbox changed up and down absolutely perfect (no kickdown though) If the kickdown cable is left disconnected, will it damage the gearbox? It is so much smoother without and i can also drop a gear manually for overtaking. Any thoughts on this or who i can approach? Thank you, Alf.
  3. Try walking into the end beam of a four post ramp, now that does hurt....... When you wake up that is. How i did it i will never know as i had worked on it four over 20 years!!!
