  1. Video digitizing is not terribly hard but not trivial either. Depending n how it was shot and the quality of the play back equipment you cab get really good results. I used to do conversions a lot because it was the only way to share my PAL (European standard for analog video) videos with my Mom in NTSC (North American standard for video) land but that is over 15 years ago now... much easier now that the native recording are digital...
  2. There is a guy in Washington state who started a conference call about slot cars (Scalextric) way back in 2020 and he is nearly his 200th I think... He posts it on YouTube without editing and has brought in a little money. He advertises it on forums and places and he is even surprised how well works out. I only mention this because while I think a zoom call for specific issues is good maybe a monthly "chin wag" would be good too...
  3. I think I saw a Fifth Gear episode where they filled cars with the "wrong" fuel until they "died" and then re-filled them and they were fine...
  4. Internal combustion engines, once started, inherently want to keep going. I have fed all kinds of stuff into them and they have run more or less OK. I have had slightly less power sometimes, or a higher idle but after a few tankfuls of "good" gas it usually went back to normal.
  5. Yeah! I keep getting my foot caught in the steering wheel....
  6. There is hole just over 9/16 of an inch big in the garage of my parents house because I tried one of those compressors... even though I also put hose clamps all around in addition that damn thing exploded when I undid the nut and missed my eye by a few inches, plowed through the particle board ceiling and landed on the other end of the garage...
  7. In this weather not a particularly difficult thing to do!
  8. There are free smart phone apps that use GPS to determine speed. I have found them very accurate.
  9. Well you can buy a semi-automatic rifle in the US but no Kinder Surprise Eggs... so laws don't have to make sense... By law in Germany you have to have M+S tires on your car between 15 Oct and 1 April ... guess when we had the worst snow storm in years this year? 2 April.... Also Germans seem to think winter tires mean you can still drive at Autobahn speeds in bad weather.... and wonder why that wall didn't move out of way.... There is also a law that you are not allowed to let your car idle for more than 3 minutes. It is hardly policed but I tut-tut when the paper recommends scraping ice off a car and THEN starting the motor and driving off... As you all likely have guessed I am a fairly light shade of green when it comes to most things but that is mostly overridden by my desire to do no physical harm to myself and others. So if you don't fire up the engine and get in the car all hot and sweaty from scarping the ice the windows all fog up and you can't see a daggon thing! Diesels need longer anyway and you are ruining your car so I start the engine then clear the windows and then drive off. As penance I don't eat meat for a day... 😄 I live in the town where people have to lock up their cats because a few crested larks have decided to nest near some houses. It was on the BBC.... I get WHY the law exists but I just don't believe they can't move the bloody birds...
  10. See! If you want to know the RIGHT answer simply state the WRONG one! Correction comes faster than advice sometimes! 😄
  11. Someone claimed that was why the Hubble telescope was fuzzy... the mirror was ground by a metric company but the lens was done in Imperial (maybe the other way round). That's why they were able to fix it using software as the error could be corrected mathematically... Again.. I can't find proof but since when were facts ever necessary when make decisions about multi-million dollar projects, trade unions or elections in general? 😄
  12. My Dad called that kind of car a "rabbit" like in greyhound races...
  13. We did an event at work and I had rented a '67 convertible beetle as part of our stand. I was shocked that people thought it was ok to lay/sit on the hood/bonnet and a kid even put a sticker on the door. When I told him off and tried to find the parents they were no where to be found. I was thinking of filling a water pistol with something foul smelling and squirting anything that bothered me...
  14. Here on the continent Fluid Film is pretty popular but mostly just for cavities...
  15. Mark is fairly active on Facebook as well (if you use it) It helps him if you deal with him directly as eBay and the rest such up a lot of money for not doing much....
  16. Car repair PR0N.... THANKS! 😄
  17. Thanks! I think I saw this floating around as a DVD ... I took a look on the Amazon App and it isn't available in Germany... yet---
