  1. Thank you all! Can anyone advise how much packing in mm might work to alleviate the problem. I am going to go back to Manners also to see what they say - seems bonkers selling petrol pumps for heralds when they are bound to behave in this way..... Ray
  2. could you identify favourite usual suspects for additional gaskets or extra thick ones (gasket not owner!) Ray
  3. Thanks to you all for replying. Sooo...next question - how to achieve the spacing. Is there are thicker gasket available..... idiot's guide to the solution please! Ray
  4. We have a Triumph 1200, Solex Carb which was completely refurbed by Carburettor Exchange (beautiful job) and we then fitted a new petr ol pump from David Manners which is just overwhelming it. There are human analogies! We know why the pump is doing it, but can anyone help with a remedy, short of divorce. e.g. does anyone know where an original pump could be sourced, or an overhauled original to original spec. A Very Happy Easter Ray
  5. Thank You Paul. They're not showing any but I will call them tomorrow. If there are any other suggestions as to where a replacement might be found i'd be very grateful. Ray
  6. Dear Peter I am struggling to find Fitchetts. Can you suggest any others who might supply a new tank? With Best Wishes Ray
  7. Thank you very much indeed Peter. I'll get in touch with Fitchetts., Can you send me the name and address of your Luton repairer. Ray
  8. Hello everyone, and all good wishes for 2023. My petrol tank is leaking and have drained it and taken it out. Can anyone help with: Plan A refurbed or good 2ndhand tank Plan B Lining it with something - I seem to remember Demon Tweeks do a product - has anyone used it/is it any good? Plan C Any other suggestions Ray
  9. Hello everyone. I hope you are all very well. Our Herald has had the (doubtful) benefit of me and a rebuild kit, and the outcome has not been good. Clearly a carb's lot in my hands is Not an 'appy one. Not my area really, but I tried. Can anyone recommend someone to get Rosie back on the road. To be fair the carb has done 312,000 miles! We've had her since 1977 and I don't see from our records that the carb has had any previous attention. She did have a spell of not being used for a fair time lately. Raymond

Hello everyone. We hope you are all well. The carb on our Triumph Herald 1147cc really needs replacing. The rebuild with a Rimmer kit hasn't worked well enough. Just very tired - 300,000 miles worth at least of tired. Can anyone suggest a source of replacement ones. It's a Solex. Can a different make be fitted? Final thought - am I dreaming or does it look like one I recall from an early Ford Escort? I'm not really knwleadgeable but it is ringing a bell. Ray
  11. Does anyone know of Quiller Triumph? Secondhand in Plumstead S London. Are they good?
  12. Karl thank you for the photo and taking the time and trouble. You are all so helpful. Thank You.Chris - we deserve anything that's said we know! Just that the car is such a part of family and bought under such special circumstances no question of getting rid for a convertible. Chris A: Our Herald lives a lot in Normandy - near St Hilaire du Harcouet. You can't be (relatively) far. Do you belong to any clubs because we'd like to join.
  13. Hi - thank you all so much. Our first time on the forum and a great welcome. Colin I will investigate and be in touch about the status of the heater. The VW inline sounds good! My wife bought our Herald two weeks after we met (on a train!) to come and visit me in Windsor. She was a nurse working crazy hours at St Thomas' Hospital and wanted ease of travel. In 1977 you could zip down via Hammersmith in some ridiculously short time! We still have our much loved Herald and she has done 377,000 miles. She was bodily rebuilt about 1987. Will any of you ever speak to us again if we tell you that though we still have the roof we - did a Tristan conversion thirty years ago.....eek. Ray
  14. Thank you Colin. That is immensely helpful. We've been searching e bay intensely for about four months without coming up with anything Delaney, and to be honest not much Smiths. A Delaney valve put in a brief appearance - a new one, and sold in a nano second. So we're not the only ones out there looking. Any suiggestions as to where complete units, or parts might be sourced would be wonderful. Rimmers and Canley have nothing Delaney.
  15. I am sorry in my preceding medssage I forgot to mention make and model! Ray
