Thanks for your comments. Yes, the so called tension wire Is positioned correctly but as I say there is slight but distinctive bend inwards of the vent frame glass channel which I don't think is correct.

Thanks for your reply but I think you'll find that the door glass is flat.

One of my final jobs on the 30 year body off restoration of my MkII 2 L Vitesse is fitting the door internals but have run into problems with the door glass fitment and it free up/down movement which despite many attempts at adjustment has ended the same. I seem I cannot get the rear glass channel and the front channel in alignment. My recent thoughts have turned to the vent frame as the possible source of the problem. Because of a fatigue crack at waist level it underwent repair. When looking side on at the frame it bends slight inwards from the bottom of the 1/4 vent.. This may be correct though common sense says the glass run channel which is part of the frame should be perfectly straight. So can anyone tell me please whether the frame design is intended to be perfectly flat or bend slightly inwards as I describe . Any advice most welcome.

As a new boy I'm not sure where/how to reply to individual posts. So thanks to Pete & Paul for your comments. Paul, some years ago in the early part of my restoration I did use the Frost product of the time for sealing fuel tanks. However, I have heard since that this product was not proof against ethanol and there was a risk of a reaction with the sealant. I've done very little mileage since so I'm reluctant to apply a another sealant over the top of one that may not be secure. Thanks for your comments. Pete, thanks for your comments. The workshop manual doesn't show the detail of the top pipe entry and I can't quite see how to remove it to check on the sealing arrangement. I can just see a nut under the reserve lever - is this the means of removal of the lever and pipe assy?

My car a Vitesse 2Litre Mk2 - Strong smell of petrol when I open the boot but no visible signs as far as can be seen with the tank in situ. No wetness in the boot or on the garage floor below. All tank connections & fuel lines etc were renewed during the restoration and all are sound. But fuel level has dropped with vehicle not currently being used. Before I remove the tank any advice as to a proven repair source would be welcome.
