  1. Morning Iain and to be honest as it's a hard to come by part and as you say wouldn't take much with wet n dry to make right it could well be worthwhile for a few members. Maybe a post on the Facebook page to gauge interest? It's something I'd keep a few of as spares for any rebuilds. Charlton
  2. Ok will do it tonight and let you know 🤞
  3. I can measure the one I have and let you know, could be worth asking 😉
  4. Blimey all that and they don't match, fingers crossed for you. Charlton
  5. Mine is the top washer/bushing of the jet assembly missing on one carb, it looks like an aluminium washer about a millimetre in thickness. I have similar ones but need to tweak them to fit. As for the piston problem I had, well I managed to remove the duff grub screw and am making a replacement, fingers crossed I'll have it all done and be back on the road soon. Charlton
  6. Ok this is a steep learning curve for me but from what I've noticed so far all I can see that would cause the front and rear carbs to be different is if the air flow isn't balanced? Or mixture isn't matched? Could be the needle height isn't spot on if fixed needle, or as I have had with mine a washer missing on the jet of one of the carbs. Other than that I don't know. Good luck and anyone feel free to correct me. Charlton
  7. So a new problem arrives, one of the needle retaining screws has been sheered off inside the piston, managed enough movement to remove the needle but can't get whats left out, looks like a new piston is needed so back on the phone to burlens tomorrow to see if they have one. Fingers crossed! Also when rebuilding the other carb I'm having difficulty getting that piston to drop freely from fully open, it's fine upto about 3/4 travel then sticks, a tap on top of the carb and it drops?
  8. Great and if thats the case I'll leave out the spring and stick with the 7B, will have to check about a heavy retainer? Once the carbs are sorted my next challenge is the 5 speed conversion, got the Ford box and most bits and will no doubt be back here after help when I go to do it 😉 will check for threads about that closer to the time. Many many thanks all of you, I'll update when it's done ✔ Charlton
  9. So after speaking to Burlens it is a 7b but with no spring? So now I'm thinking surely the soft spring would be better than no spring? What other needles would be worth trying I wonder? Anyone need a pair of cdse 150's apparently there great on a mk3 gt6 just not so good on a Vitesse 6 😆
  10. Can't remember of the top of my head the needle number but there is a different one for the 1600 and 2ltr but the jet is the same. Will double check later but think your right and it's a 6?
  11. Thank you so much and that kind of confirms my suspicion that getting hold of a pair older cd150 carbs is the better option.
  12. Sorry to jump in and hijack the thread but you sound like you may be able to help me! My Vitesse 6 is as far as I know standard bar replacement carbs, previous owner apparently fitted rebuilt cdse 150 carbs but never got the tuning right, and boy is it rich, also can't balance them for love nor money. With all the messing about with the cdse carbs I have been considering getting a pair of cd150 3137f and r carbs and doing a rebuild using the 1600 needles available from J Paddocks, the jets are apparently the same for both 1600 and 2000. In your opinion is this a better solution than fighting with the cdse set up? Seems easier and with more flexibility to tune the older cd150 jets rather than the top needles on the cdse?
  13. Well my 65 vitesse 6 is due to be delivered on Thursday It's currently very original but I am looking at a few tweaks. It's a saloon in conifer Green (resprayed but original colour), I will try to get some good pictures over the weekend. Looking at a 5 speed gearbox as it is in the boot and comes with it and then period spots and alloys. Don't want to mess with it to much.
