  1. You must remove the radio if fitted, then you can get a hand to the nuts. Either from behind the H frame or hand through the radio aperture. Danny
  2. Should be the same as my spitfire. Two large x head screws just under the crash pad. Danny
  3. I always put a thin smear of Hylomer on both sides of the gasket ring for the oil port. Danny
  4. Just bought 4 at £3.64 each from a reputable dealer. I've seen them much cheaper but how are they so cheap. I wouldn't take the chance. Danny
  5. I made the D shape then braised the ridges on. Painted black they look like the original. And much cheaper. Danny
  6. I made my own out of aluminium. Not that hard to do. I could not find any anywhere at the time. Danny
  7. My 1500 spit was set at 17 deg btdc on a rolling road. Danny
  8. I had the same on my drivers door. No click / lock. It's the barrel bit with the ears worn causing it. I just put it back together. Doubt I'd find a replacement unless I make one. Seemed too much trouble to get it to click. Danny
  9. My Goodrich braided hoses on the rear lasted 15 years then one started to leak. I've now gone back to standard rubber hoses. Danny
  10. This is worrying, I'm waiting for full set of gaskets and seals for my newly rebuilt spit 1500. Ordered from Rimmers a couple of weeks ago. It's held up waiting for the Payen gaskets to arrive. I'm now thinking I should have gone for the cheaper option. Danny
  11. If you look at their YouTube channel it shows all the cars for sale. And on the Saturday and Sunday you can watch the live auction. Danny
  12. You can add a lowering block between spring and diff. Danny Looks like Pete beat me.

    Fuel spill

Are the fibre washers in place on both valves. As fuel can get past the threads and it also affects the float hight if missing. I've also had a new mechanical pump in the past intermittently putting out high pressure. Found this when fitting a pressure gauge to test it. The pressure fluctuating between 2 and 9 pounds. Danny
  14. As the above. I also use a couple of long studs screwed into the engine block to help aline when refitting. Danny
  15. I had this many years ago when I found the shaft was bent after removing the hub without the correct puller.. Danny
  16. Holden have a good selection. https://www.holden.co.uk/c/hardware/mirrors/interior_mirrors Danny
  17. I've owned my spit 1500 for over 20 years and was wondering if any previous owners out there recognise it. It was registered in 1980 spitfire 1500 white registration RGK3V. But later changed to GBW678V. Original number is now on a 96 Land rover. I have a lot of history with the car which includes TSSC valuation certificates. For 1994, 95, 98 & 2000. Owner Rick Roberts tssc number 93/441259. I also have the attached photo which came with the file of history. Looks like it was taken at Duxford. Danny
  18. Never noticed any difference on my spit 1500. I took the spoiler off some years ago and fitted the mk4 valance. I do drive on motorways at 70 and above. I admit my car is lower than standard at the front. Danny
  19. From the photo it looks like the lens retaining rims are too far out. Danny
  20. I didn't think they come with covers anymore, unless they have started remaking them. I was lucky to get one on ebay some years ago. At one point I was going to make one from stainless steel to replace the snapped of one. Danny
  21. Go on YouTube and search for Moss. They have a number of "How to" videos . One of them shows how to test and adjust the regulator. Danny
  22. They are the best but a lot of money if you only use it once. There are cheaper claw types on ebay for around a 10 quid. Danny
