  1. Thanks Johny, it all makes sense now, thank you, thank you for your assistance in gearbox dark arts
  2. Johny this is the sequence of the rear bearing cover installation as we had it, ( from the previous owner) please see attached. The thrust washer was always fitted after the bearing and not before, is this correct?
  3. Thanks Pete, will check it too, although the propshaft was professionally rebuilt by HJ Chard in Bristol (brizzle) only last year.
  4. Adrian, that's really interesting. My new cable broke last week and today I found out that it snapped by the angle drive. this happened after a good 40min run on the motorway
  5. thank you Johny, looks like it's the same part for spitfire as it is for gt6. the bearing seating in the end of the existing casing is worn away from when the previous bearing failed. two bearings failed in only few months, and we think this is due to being unable to torque the rear flange correctly
  6. Good evening gents, I'm looking for a rear gearbox transmission tail housing for my gt6 mk3. Has anyone of you have a spare one for sale? Best wishes Joanna
  7. Well done Cliff, it looks great!
  8. Evening, Thank you all for your suggestions, just wanted to let you know that we finally found the source of the problem… - faulty bearings in the extension 🤷🏻‍♀️ Managed to take the extension off with the gearbox still in place
  9. I just hope I will never have to do it again 😂 I tried everything, watched every possible tutorial on youtube, but ended up with soap and water and trying to push it in with my tiny fingers. I have no idea how I managed to do it, but it looks ok. The screen was already installed. anyway, if someone would like to use this plastic trim, just let me know
  10. Yes Mathew, it is. I didn’t know if I could post it here! I got it from rimmers thinking it will be easier to fit 😅 Gave up in the end and installed the original chrome trim.
  11. Hi, I’m posting here because I didn’t really know where this one should go. would these be of any use to anyone? One side has a slight crease, I don’t know whether it’s fixable or not, but PM me if interested.
  12. It must have a gold plated chassis if someone spent £97k on it
  13. Hi Johny, the clutch and release bearings are new. With the car placed on the axle stands we turned the propshaft with the first gear engaged and couldn’t hear anything. The next check will be to try the propshaft with the clutch pedal down. No idea where the problem is 🤷🏻‍♀️ could this be the new exhaust? Although I am sure we would hear the banging noise more from the outside too
  14. Hello Just wanted to ask your opinion on something that came up on our recent test drive. After about a mile of driving, we heard a screetching noise that appears to be from the gearbox tunnel area, increasing with the speed. All gears engage and clutch operates correctly. With the windows opened we could barely hear any noise outside of the vehicle. after initial propshaft test in the garage there was no noise after turning the wheels. we are slightly confused where to look next before stripping the vehicle down again... any ideas? Many thanks
  15. Sorry guys if the video doesn’t work you, just wanted to show you the happy running EMO! I enjoy every step, with problems or without. But I guess this is the beauty of restoration
  16. Hi guys, just wanted to let you know that we had a short 100 m run today (dashboard still disconnected), and everything works fine! Only found that the reverse light cable is broken, and it’s on the list to do tomorrow. thank you all for your support and Mathew for the gears and Pete for the mainshaft! cannot wait to go for a proper run tomorrow many thanks Joanna IMG_5348.MOV
  17. Fingers crossed, I am hoping to try it out tomorrow
  18. I believe it’s Doug Taylor, I phoned South West Metal Finishing and they recommended Doug, so he must be good
  19. Colin, do you have a link to it? Struggling to find one on the website
  20. Just the little dots on the surface, the bumper itself is in a good shape. I received an estimated cost from the local guy for £300 + VAT for rechroming
