  1. Thanks Josef. I watched the video, but mine is more of a 2" tear than just a nick. Alex
  2. I have a tear in the vinyl on mine. Has anyone repaired something like this with the pad in situ? Remvong it and putting in a new one sounds like a nightmare! Alex
  3. Thanks Pete Certainly worth a try. Alex
  4. Thanks everyone. I had a sneaky feeling it might be a bit more complex than just carbs. Yes it's the 75bhp revvy little motor and certainly isn't slow but a bit more pep is always nice to have! I think I'll leave it as is for now, hot cams etc means tearing the engine down and I don't want to start doing that! Alex
  5. Any suggestions? I'm looking for a bit more power out of the old girl. I intend to fit a stainless twin exhaust with manifold as well. Are there any 'plug and play' carbs that would give me, say, 20-30 more bhp? Alex
  6. For one brief moment I thought that was a Porsche 911. Looks fantastic mate. Alex
  7. Was it green to begin with? My memory can be....err...halibut. Alex
  8. BRG is a good choice but don't forget you'll need to paint everything, not just the exterior. And yes, I can see the join* Alex *just kidding!

    Rocker box gasket

So I now have my ridiculously expensive neoprene gasket...and on a little sheet of paper it says I need to use sealant. Can someone point me towards the correct stuff? Preferably not from Rimmers! Alex
  10. I think you've done a cracking job sir. I'd doff my bowler to you if I had one 😀 Alex

    Rocker box gasket

Thanks lads! I have an alloy one so I'll place (another!) order with Rimmers. Alex
  12. I've noticed a small weep out of the rocker box (Spitfire MK3) so I need to replace it. Can anyone suggest a good one? Would a cork one be better than a rubber gasket? Many thanks, Alex.
  13. Maybe he wasn't that great at spelling and it's meant to read not ally. Alex
  14. Yep, about £2K sounds right. Hey ho. Yes I still enjoy driving her regardless and still get loads of comments. Going to see the chap tomorrow. As for the roller paint, yes it can look amazing. I do remember watching a time lapse of some bloke with a huge American car and he applied a thin layer every day for a month. As you say cheap as chips and it did look very good indeed. Me? Spray please and by someone who owns a booth and an oven! Alex
  15. Lora is still going strong I'm happy to report but there are issues. Well, one BIG issue. The paintwork. I had planned for the bonnet and boot to be painted to get rid of the water spots but it's now a lot worse than that. The paint is cracking everywhere, the drivers door being the worse. She looks terrible. There is a place round the corner from me that specialise in classic paint so I'll be taking some deep breaths and going to see them for a quote, Alex
  16. Brilliant! Thanks for that. Alex
  17. This may sound like a daft question but when swapping one over, is it just a case of sliding out the old swivel pin to remove the old one? Alex
  18. This is doing my head in. I can just about get 2 bolts onto the over riders but nothing else lines up. The 2 bolts that hold the ends of the bumper to the bodywork are about 10mm out. Has anyone done this before and do you have any helpful tips? Alex
  19. Do you think since you reversed up the ramps some crap from the tank has found it's way into the carbs? What's the fuel filter looking like? Alex
  20. Well done indeed! I would have just chucked in a load of plod but this is coming along amazingly. Alex
  21. Thanks everyone. Sounds like a good product. Alex
  22. It might, just might, be for a locking mechanism. Alex
  23. Has anyone bought one? Very expensive but in stainless steel so should last forever. I ask as some total berk hit my car yesterday and amazingly he wants to do a cash settlement (maybe no insurance?), Alex
