Just fired up my mk3 engine after rebore.
All went well, good compression, water circulating but when I checked the oil it’s very milky. Also bubbling through the rad with the cap off.
Thinking of taking the head off, getting it skimmed and trying again with a new gasket.
Does anyone think this should be the way ahead? Alternative is to pull the engine and I haven’t really got the time (or the enthusiasm at the moment!!) to do that.
Any advice would be much appreciated.
Thanks
Where you based, if head is off I can check out for you, if warped etc, we have engineering shop at my company and as said before to members happy to help where I can, it's all about favors etc
Cheers

I am looking for a mk3 body to either buy or can offer services in my companies engineering dept, IE head skims, spark eroders, milling etc, I am willing to help out members with jobs they need doing also, maybe you have snapped head bolts etc, we can spark them out, will help as much as I can on smaller stuff, message me, maybe you can help me in return on stuff on my rebuild at a later date etc.
I would like to help out where I can, and hopefully make some acquittances along the way.
cheers

I should have mentioned guys the herald engine offered is a 1300, I know MK 1 came with 1147, but I may as well be trying to source a space shuttle LOL, although I am new to this.

Hello All,
I am a newbie and currently have a MK1 without Engine and gearbox, you have probably heard this a thousand times before so I apologise if you have, but trying to source a MK1 spitfire engine is almost impossible however I can get hold of herald engine and gearbox, so my question is does it fit ok?, I think I am correct in saying there are same engine, failing this does the 1500 engine and gearbox fit, not ideal as would like to stay true as possible, which laughable in one sense as cannot find MK1 Engine (NUMBERS).
many thanks in advance for help

Hi guys, just a catch up, I decided to go with the 1500 engine, gearbox, prop and diff.
The Engine has had a complete rebuild, with new bores inserted new pistons etc.
It sits neatly on my rebuilt/painted chassis, with rebuilt suspension, I have replaced nuts, bolts etc, but have used all original parts, just had them blasted and painted etc.
I am just fitting brake pipes and fuel lines to chassis.
Thanks for you help again.
