I was thinking if I have a new fuel tank made about fitting the sender in the top of the tank and screw fixings(less chance of a leak!)
What about this one?

Nothing really other than my anti surge baffle does no work very well!
If the tank is down to half and I go around Left handers to quick the engine cuts out(which is a Bugger in Spain with the Anti Clockwise Islands?
It's just boys and toys and looking a shinny things at a Show!!!
Plus with Spitty doing 44mpg I can probably do 300miles down to fumes(well beyound Bladder range!)
I must admit when travelling I tend to refill the tank when it gets just under half or at the start of a longer journey and off up and down mountain passes or off the beaten track!

What I need is an old knackered tank to measure and show my late mates son as he works in fabricating and could possibly make one I can make all the bosses!

I was talking to these people at Triumh & MG show on Sunday about a tank for my Spitfire and for one with more capacity and the fuel pump built in(I run ITB's EFI) and putting a dent/bulge in to locate the fuel filter he said about £500!
I said I could make the fuel punp fixing plate and he said that would save about £50!
Plus if I went ahead I would prefer a guage sender that bolts not the ring fixing type and I could make the flange perhaps another £50 off?

Hello All
I have a 1500 Spitfire on the 1st engine I replaced the cam with a Triumph Mk3 Grind one and then later I fitted Megajolt and it was good
I then fitted Microsquirt and it got better.
Then I rebuilt a spare engine with fully balance and skimmed flywheel,lightened and polished conrods that were shot peened the block was decked and removed the fire ring and with a 0.005"/0,010" pop up, a Newman PH2 cam and good followers and camshaft bearings, light skim of the head and chambers altered and balanced and ported(by me!) the oil feed to the centre bearing was drilled out as in the Triumph Tuning manual and the oil gallery etc,solid spacers on the rockers,duplex chain etc,
It is still a good lowdown pulling engine due the the ITB's & EFI but comes alive at 2,500/3,000 rpm and will still accelerate at 70mph in top overdrive (a 28% overdrive!)
I get an average mpg of 40 to 45 never less at normal spirited driving(track days probably different?)
It has covered 26,500 miles now oil pressure is 75psi cold @ 1000rpm and 50psi hot(normal)@1000 rpm (a bit less when in Spain and being worked hard up the pyrenees and hot!!)

ps £24 a year if changed at 6 years a no brainer and probably good enough for most Classic Car Drivers (unless you do a lot of track days etc?)
And still better than crossplys!

I think 6 to 7 years max and the cheapest new tyre would probably better than a 7 year old one!
Plus you all have cars that are worth mega bucks now so say £300 to £400 every 6 to 7 years(if you live that long?) is about £50 to £60 a year!
That's not even a meal out with the Memsahib now (excluding hot dog stands!)

Hello All
I fitted one over my work bench in the same position as the old one and had to move it as it was to bright in my eyes as it was in front of me and just above head height!
I moved it to more above my head and is good.
But I think you can have to much light if it is in the wrong place and they are the bright white type?

It was us out on a jolly Most of us are in the TSSC and the TR Register but not the MGB or the Capri!
We covered 170miles some will have done a bit more!
We go out Every Wednesday if the weather is ok in from April to October!
I do not think we do many Show's!
Ours is Spitty and covered about 4,600 milles this year(A 3 week Spanish trip!)

That's a result and it is a good price but looking at it i would say fit a switch box on it not just plugged in ! one like mine with a kill switch when things go wrong!

You need to be quick it goes out at 18.33 today.
This is the one I have and the date on it is 1983 so I suppose I have had my monies worth out of it?
The only mod is the switch box before it was on the lefthand side(frothe front) this one has the big button when the S**t hits the fan!

I would think a outside circlip would do the job? just measure the diameter of the pin(not the groove or the groove if you can?) then find a metric one a bit smaller(with or without ears)
