  1. Hello Paul I have just compared my mk1 to the mk2 and to me the top, bottom and side prifile all look the same even the demister vents are the same The only difference is the ash tray hole and the gauges and controls were different but they all fix to the wooden dashboard! It would need some thin plywood glued in to strenghten it I did the same to my Mk1 Still it is up to you! Roger
  2. Hello Paul Is this what you are looking for? as you can see it is not in very good condtion but with suitable repairs I am sure it could be made good(ish) I think this is a Mk2 but I am sure it could be made into Mk1 its the wooden bit that holds every thing. Roger ps I live about 5miles from M5 J4 towards Stourbridge
  3. Hello All This is mine from Spitty I did about 5 years ago and I used Rustins and put on 10 to 12 coats with a bit of flatting every 3 to 4 and finished with wet and dry that I had to read the printing on it to work out which was the coated side and finished with their burnishing stuff(tried lots of others but that was best for me and you can decide how shinny you want it! Roger
  4. Hello All I made a jig and redrilled the block and tapped it 7/16" so I could torque it down a bit more and bought new studs etc from Colin Witor Roger
  5. Hello Dave I need one of those where did you buy it from? Roger
  6. Hello Alan Did the pump work or did you have buy a new one? Roger
  7. Hello Mathew The tank has a vent on the top which was blocked off(Triumph) but i fitted a hose down and out at back of boot floor The lock tab has a square hole in it and it fits over a square on the lock I will put a dab of thread lock on the screw when I am sure I have finished it! I have replace the vented seal(slight spit in it) with a non vented one Roger
  8. Hello All I have finally finished it! I bought some 43mm I/D O/Rings and machined a radiused groove into the locking piece and a chamfer and recess in to the main body. so now when it is shut no fumes should come up the side and the cap seal will still seal if it is not in. I will probably just leave it in not locked most of the time when the car is not being left in strange places! Roger
  9. Hello All Velocette LE flat twin water cooled it was nick named the Noddy bike as the police used a lot of them Roger
  10. Hello Badwolf The Spitfire one has a different seal so not sure that way would work but looks good if suits the fuel cap you have. I did mine as I did not fancy the key hole on tr[he outside like the ones at Moss(and the price!) Fuel Cap, locking, original flip-up, lozenge shape (moss-europe.co.uk) Roger
  11. Hello Mathew I agree it is only to stop opportunist but I never lock the doors on Spity as they would just cut the hood! Roger ps I do lock the boot when there is anything worth stealing in there so I can tell the insurance people it was lock and make a full claim!
  12. Hello All I got the idea for this from the TR Register forum. A man on there makes them but it would not fit Spiity so I got my thinking cap on and copied and modified to suit Here is the result I still have to machine a groove to take an o/ring in the locking piece and a chamfer or step in the fuel cap at the top so no fumes can escape! I also fitted a small locating pin so it is a one haded operation to unlock and lock! I recon it has cost me about £11.50 and Hours of brain and Maching work(still I like the result and still looks the same from the outside and I only have to fit it if I think it is needed (( Touring Foriegn parts?)) Roger
  13. Hello Alan Try this Triumph Spitfire Head Swaps Roger
  14. Hello Alan I have 2 going spare here. 1 I removed from my spitfire a few years ago to fit a full width along with engine upgrade it was not leaking 1 I acquired with some other parts so is an unknown condition You are welcome to one of them for a donation to a charity of your choice and the price of delivery Roger
  15. Hello All The answer is yes if you put a match to it!!!!!!!!!!!!! Roger
  16. Hello Graham Mine was not a good fit either but managed to adjust it with heat and then I milled the faces. So Paddocks maybe the same make not good and thinner tube! I wish I had bought that one I listed on Fleabay!! Roger
  17. Hello Graham These are about the best photos I can find and as you can see it just clears my Bastock inlets and as you can see the middle 2 go over the 1 and 4 which I think means they are a shorter bend out from the head which is what you need on 1 and 4! Roger
  18. Hello Graham I can not remember but I bought it from James Paddock and as you can see the No2 and 3 go over No1 and 4 and allowed the manifold to JUST fit James Paddock Limited - Triumph Stag, Spitfire, TR6, TR7, GT6, Vitesse, Herald Parts and Spares Specialists. EXHAUST SYSTEM SPORTS MANIFOLD S/STEEL SPIT 1300/1500(JPR476) Roger ps the quality does not feel as good as the old one and lighter gauge tube! but you get what you pay for!
  19. Hello Graham I had the same problem when fitting EFI to my spitfire as it uses Weber type inlets and they were fouling No1 and No4 exhaust pipes I found a different Exhaust header where No2 and 3 are the farthest out and No1 and 4 closest in and then the manifolds fitted. This was my old exhaust I tried a bit of reshaping but it did not work you can see where it has been repaired. I may have some more photos on my main computer I will look later This looks like the type I fitted Triumph Spitfire 1500/mk4 Phoenix 4 branch stainless steel exhaust manifold VGC | eBay Roger
  20. Hello All I think I put flats on carb spindles and a groove in rod for the grub screws to go into when adjusting them for opening the same and balancing Roger
  21. Hello All I did the same but I think I used 7mm ones and turned the spinles down as I was fitting new throttle discs (not sure why I used 7mm pehaps they were cheaper?) Roger
  22. I have one of his in our Spitfire and it has covered 10,000+miles and still seems quiet Roger
  23. Hello Mathew There was no motorway driving in this and we tend to drive spiritedly especially on the twisty bits (3rd gear and in and out of overdrive sometimes 2nd and overdrive) I think if I did a long drive on an A road at 50/60mph and level it would be nearer 50mpg Roger
  24. Hello All I have just done me sums again and in 2787 miles I used 58.5 gallons = 47.64 mpg So is a bit better than I thought and the engine has done over 13,000 miles since the rebuild Roger
  25. Hello All I have fuel injection with ITB's and Microsquirt ecu The engine is fully balanced and a Newman fast road cam, head ported by me! rods polished balanced and shot peened the block is decked and compression ratio is about 9.75 to 1, 4 branch manifold I have a 28% overdrive and I can use it on 2nd gear when needed(up hill twisty roads!) I have noted the fuel over the 3500 miles and I am getting 45mpg overall I can see a few places it could be leaned off from the guage in the car! I am not going to at the moment as I think that E10 may make it a bit weaker although I give the ECU a 6% control to alter things Roger
