  1. Hello, does anyone happen to have a diagram that shows which fixings are required for this? All the usual places like rimmers/moss don't seem to show it for the MK2, but they do show it for the mk4/1500 - would they probably be the same?
  2. Here's a video of a FB group members Vitesse recently... 338188278_249373560862843_6421688449155813773_n.mp4
  3. All historic vehicles are ULEZ exempt regardless of fuel type.
  4. Historic vehicles (40 years+) are still exempt from ULEZ at least so maybe some events will run.
  5. According to FB group, the events have the same start/finish but take different routes. So a bit better, I guess. Mrs just reminded me she is going to be 7 months pregnant at that point so may not fancy sitting in the Spitfire for that long 🙈 I have a Honda E so am part of a couple of FB groups. The other day someone posted how their [1 year old] car is clearly going to be a modern classic and a collectors item soon. I did have a little chuckle to myself!
  6. RUN TICKETS | Pop Up (popupcarshows.co.uk) I'm going this year (£125 for the privilege 😱), I've always been tempted as it passes outside my house. Anyone else? Seems to be held simultaneously alongside "modern classics" and "kit & sports cars".
  7. Thanks, yea I can just about probably stretch the top to fit the poppers, just seems very very tight before the frame is popped up. I think part of my issue is the hood is in my cold garage, needs to warm up a bit to make it a bit more flexible.
  8. Doesn't seem to go in any further. The bottom of the brackets are bent inwards to stop it coming out the bottom, is that correct? Measures 10cm in the tube then 9cm from top of tube to the notches that lock it down.
  9. Brilliant Adrian thank you. I'll try a bit of lube and gently coax it in. Hoping to go to a local meet up on Saturday, and I'm sick of freezing my nuts off driving the car with no roof on! Plus, just in case it rains...
  10. Finally got round to fitting the new top. Does the frame push further down into the B post brackets? It looks like it may do but I can't seem to get it down more.
  11. Just in case anyone else searches for this issue in future - Rimmers confirmed that it's not the correct one and they no longer stock it. They have offered a refund.
  12. I have been considering doing similar, I hadn't thought about the hood. Thanks for the heads up.
  13. Absolutely beautiful car. I'm very jealous as I did try and purchase it when it was listed on auto trader, but the seller had already sold it on! I've since managed to get hold of my own red mk2. Glad it's gone to an enthusiast on here so I can follow it's journey. Make sure you post lots of photos!
  14. Having looked at some photos online, it seems like the one I have on at the moment doesn't match. Will have exposed holes in the windshield frame if I use it though.
  15. Thanks guys, I've emailed Rimmers. To be honest there aren't any deep scratches so the original may come up nicely with a bit of TLC.
  16. Hello I have a new windscreen capping from Rimmers, however the ends look different. I don't seem to have enough space to fit the snap for the soft top. Any ideas which capping I've received or if the one on the car is wrong? Cheers
  17. Ha you're not wrong! Lots of little jobs to be getting on with for sure.
  18. It's been a long process but she's almost ready to come home 😁
  19. Stupid question alert - how do I fit the poppers? Is there some sort of tool that cuts the vinyl and connects both sides?
  20. Does it have to be an old toothbrush? Can't I just borrow my wife's?
  21. Hello, does anyone know what the Spitfire Mk2 grille insert is made from? Want to bring it back to full glory and wondering what's the best method. Cheers
  22. Yep it is a good price and is below what they quoted, I can't help but wonder if it's because they realised they f*cked up! Only time will tell and I'll be sure to report back 😅
  23. To be honest with you I have no idea, these aren't even questions I'd think to ask. They charged something around £300 all in (skim, acid dip, new valves, etc including machining new tubes). This was a job that was passed on from the local company I'm using to a metalwork shop they have used before and trust, which I went for over Canley. I'll soon find out if it was the right choice or not. Meanwhile the Mrs is asking what happened to the red car I bought 4 months ago!
  24. Oops sorry I didn't reply! Yes I was told the tubes were shot. The head has been acid dipped and new tubes machined.
