  1. Cheers for all the help guys. Much appreciated. Do you think I'll do ok without the little hooks?
  2. No worries, I bought a used hood because it had the bar, in one of the poppers was the male end so I can see what was supposed to be on the body of the car. Nice easy job hopefully. I will replace the capping on the windscreen when I get round to doing the windscreen glass too. Moss do a heated windscreen. Looks nice.
  3. So I picked up a used hood as it had the bar, thought I'd use it for a stop gap until I got a new one. The buttons are the same fitting each side, so they don't clip in........ let me guess, these are the wrong ones on the body?
  4. Thanks Pete, I'll add it to the shopping list the next time she goes to Tesco. It's for the car, of course.
  5. Never mind, sorted it. As with most events in life when you need to force something into a smaller hole, I put on some rubber gloves and applied a bit of lube (grease), and with some gentle thrusting and side to side movements it slid right in. Very satisfying feeling. Made a bit of a mess but nothing I couldn't wipe up. The beers probably helped too 😎😁
  6. I had a strong smell of fuel in the boot - and by extension my garage. I am replacing the fuel filler neck. I cannot for the life of me get the fuel cap through the new rubber grommet that it goes through. I can get the grommet in the hole, or the grommet around the fuel cap, but not both together. Any tips?
  7. Used some AG interior shampoo and then some vinyl and rubber care - worked really well. In fact the whole interior looks great now.
  8. Some more information gathering - this piece around the dash, the part where the grab handle is mounted, looks ok but how would I revitalise it? Might look a bit shabby after I've done the rest. Can't find any new vinyl covering sets online.
  9. I will try all those thank you. Wins is just down the road from me so I'll pop in there tomorrow.
  10. So I can hang up my wet underpants and drive along with the boot open... and they'll be dry by the time I get to my destination?
  11. How useable will a soft top be without the rear retaining bar?
  12. Much better and very different that it was before! If it looks like I'm pushing quite hard it's because I didn't have the knob screwed on the end and it was stabbing me in the hand PXL_20220810_093709393_TS.mp4
  13. Any issues with using a wire brush attachment on an electric drill? Am I being too lazy? 😁
  14. When it comes to removing the rust - I'll wire brush, clean up and then use Jenolite rust converter spray. Can I then use Jenolite rust shield? I wasn't planning on painting it as it's under the carpets. Also - my gear shifter is tarnished (it's usually covered by a sleeve but I'll change that in future), any products you recommend to get rid of the rust on it and make it shiny again? Was thinking Autoglym super resin polish.
  15. Hi Dom! Nothing to add but I look forward to reading how this develops 👍
  16. Great thanks for that. Looks in good order except a bit gunky, any recommendations on a product to clean it with? WD40? This forum only lets me give a certain number of thanks per day😆
  17. Thanks! Got them out, I have a small rachet that I can use with one hand, good job I have tiny hands!
