I currently have a Herald Convertible but fancy a TR6. However, it would not be used for some 3-4 months over the winter (salt and muddy lanes). Whilst no classic car likes to be laid up for any length of time, is the PI system (even with a Bosch conversion) more problematic in that respect, such that I would be better off with a carburetor version or a TR4? Existing TR6 owners' experiences would be appreciated.

Thank you both for your helpful suggestions.

Johny: thanks for your response. Yes, lever will sometimes not move into 4th when changing up, no graunching sound though. Have not tried when stationary, will have a go tomorrow. Oil changed fairly recently. Everything in overhaul kit used up.

On occasions the gear lever will not engage 4th yet on other occasions it works fine, all the other gears are OK. I have tried a gearlever and remote control overhaul kit but to no avail. I would be grateful for any suggestions as to the likely cause. Thanks
