  1. Any other club members going to this years Laon Historic. 4 of us from M25 East Area are going - staying in a mobile home/chalet at Camping La Chenaie Anyone ???
  2. Hi all I recently bought one of the Hi Torque starter motors for my Herald through the club shop. It did say in the blurb that it was a direct replacement and no mods would be required. However, when I tried to fit it, it seems something is not quite right. My original starter was a standard unit fitted with the factory spacer - I offered the new unit up with the spacer and it will only mesh with the flywheel ring gear on about the last 3/16 of the starter drive. If fitted without the spacer the drive reaches too far and the raised back edge of the starter drive fouls the ring gear. The only solution it would appear would be to have my spacer machined down but I only bought the starter as it stated it would be a straight swap. Anyone else had this problem ?? all the best and thanks John
  3. Hmmm..the seller did say for led and normal bulbs. Oh well, only a fiver wasted, not the end of the world
  4. Hi all, just tried to fit a flasher relay to my Herald 13/60 to replace the original mechanical flasher unit. When switched on the relay clicks on and off as it should - indicator warning light on dash flashes as it should but indicators do not flash Swapped the wires to the opposite way round and indicators now work but dash light doesn't It's a 3 pin flasher relay Any ideas Ta
  5. Thanks for the answer pete - only just read this and already sorted it out but thaanks anyway. It turns out that the person that owned the car before me put the seals in back to front which is where the confusion started. Couldn't see any felt and because of a covering of grease the back of the seal look like it was part of the hub casting. It was only when I cleaned it that I notice the felt underneath, immediately the penny dropped !!! Question is do these seals do anything ? I've never had a need to do any work on this area of the car and so have never really taken any notice of them and I have been running the car with these seals back to front for 14 years and about 50,000 miles
  6. Hi all, wondering if anyone can be of assistance. Whilst changing my brake discs I noticed that I have no felt seals - the ones that fit on the stub axle before the hub assembly. The car has run like this for years. Obviously now I know there are none in there I am a bit concerned. I have 2 new seals but the question is how are they fitted and what way round. Any pics would be helpful - cheers guys and gals
  7. Hi all, looking at various options for camping at Silverstone Classic. Has anyone any suggestions. I have looked at Litchlake Farm which looks good. Also there is Silverstone Woodlands. Having not been before has anyone any experience of either of these sites and also where will the majority of TSSC members be staying. cheers all John
  8. Mike, could you possibly give me contact details for the owner of the blue Herald (Jo). My car is the red one in that episode and I took a load of pics when they were being raced. Thought she might like some copies. I have tried to get her details but to no avail. cheers John Oh, by the way. The reason the fuel injected car was faster was that they asked me to keep a couple of car lengths behind
