  1. There is no friction plate. dont balance that I guess.
  2. Studs https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/250763211613?hash=item3a62a6f35d:g:IiAAAMXQXZZRdnPN Pack 25 nuts https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/131793288731?hash=item1eaf7dfe1b:g:rAQAAOSwYmZXHzy8
  3. If they are same size as big saloon then there is a Volvo equivalent. Tend to be cheaper and much better quality, even aftermarket ones.
  4. Went to get TR out of garage Saturday to give it a wipe over with a damp chamois, started a treat, dip clutch to put it in gear, clock, straight to floor. Ar*e. 4 hours and much bodgery later, having confirmed my fears from last year that the cross shaft pin has failed, I reversed it out if the garage. slave seal had reached end of travel and leaked fluid out. Bodged It by spacing the slave with a couple of nuts so the piston doesn't move so fa r down the bore. Taking the gearbox out can wait for another day. Quick thrash round the lanes, and realised how much I missed the growl of a Triumph 6. Not sure the locals missed it as much... 🙂
  5. I wonder if you could have pulled it bck into place with a G-clamp bit by bit round the outside through the starter hole. herd that being done in the past
  6. Different angles on the brackets I correct, it is due to reduced clearance under Spitfire bonnet for the bigger MC, possibly the dual circuit one. Which yours may be supposed to have.
  7. I would shine a torch in the plug hole and look for piston at the top, will sanity check your findings
  8. 3000 should be nearer 60mph. but is that say the speed o or rev counter are accurate. get a sat nav or GPS speedo on a smartphone.
  9. That radio has VHF, or FM for the youngsters.
  10. Should be in 2 places. One stamped inside rim, which I large letters. other is on outside near centre of rim. will say something like 4.5x13x16
  11. Nuala having been in the garage looking at rims, that appears to be a picture of a narrow slot rim. Will reply to your email when I get a moment. Cheers Colin
  12. Please don't cut your rear alloy bumper in half, try to find 2 halves from where someone else did it. Decent rear bumpers are difficult to find.
  13. If you are kind to it, it will be fine. same internals ( though not ratios) behind a TR7 4-speed. So just remember no "traffic Grand Prix" and definitely no drawing number elevens.
  14. Fit the new pin, and the new shaft bearings in addition to existing ones. Also replace fork end square bearings. take shaft back. Spigot bush is in flywheel, not crank. Did it fall on floor as flywheel came off?
  15. Apart from the fire damaged one, they all look like they could live another day

    Spark plugs

I get my W7 DTC from green spark plug co. Seem very good to deal with. much harder to foul in a PI, but I have managed it, hopefully not with the rebuilt engine.
  17. Angie seems to be working all hours from what I can tell, I am sure she said she is back in the office regularly now as well.
  18. Nigel, if you have fitted all single rail internals into a 3-rail case you use the single rail OD adaptor plate. the original 3-rail adaptor is smaller so won't work with the longer large tip mainshaft. It is also f***ing expensive when you can find one. Seen them for £200 recently. you do need to shave a tiny bit off top edge so the reverse light switch fits. I had a thread on the subject recently, will try and find it. I have 2 gearboxes built up in garage, one an original 3-rail 1850 small tip OD box and a single into 3-rail with large tip OD box. Can get you photos
  19. Look on the bright side, you could own a GT40, you could get a complete GT6 conversion for the price of 1 coupling, and have change, almost enough for a GT6 coupling in fact.

    Car cover

If you choose the right colour, silver or silvery metallic, it won't ever look really dirty won't need washing. you could always go for a post purchase paint treatment (not from dealer unless it is free I am sure I read as they grossly overcharge) which would make it easier to wash.
