  1. Make sure there are no sharp edges behind the dash to chafe the pipework, I ran mine through some heater hose to give some protection.
  2. Mike has done 2 diffs for me, well worth the drive and highly recommended
  3. Stag forum has a number of owners over time with similar problems, most seem to have been solved by fitting a pressure regulator to lower the fuel pressure and fitting new needle valves. It could be linked to a cr*p parts problem so just because the valves have been changed doesnt mean they have been improved. Running rich could be a clue to a higher than required fuel pressure.
  4. That would have to be a Walkers Pork Pie then, available from all good Tescol deli counters, mail order and the shop in Leicester. Other deli counters and pork pies are available
  5. Not sure if this will work but may be worth a try, it used to work for me when the car had been left standing and the brakes were pulling to one side. Whip the pads out and run a file across the face of the pads to take off any glaze or build up. Be craeful not to breathe any of the dust etc. Then put the pads back in and try the bedding in process, nothing to lose and may just work.
  6. Make sure you get rid of the mouse too
  7. Have you managed to try these in the dark yet and do they throw out enough light?
  8. That is pricey, I sourced enough blue antifreeze for a stag from a local motor factors for under £15 made by Comma so should do the trick
  9. What about JY classics, not too far from you http://www.jyclassics.co.uk/find-us/ no experience of them personally but have heard good reports
  10. Woohoo, I have double figures and no longer a Newbie
  11. I have the same problem even on the main site using firefox
  12. Mike Papworth has done two diffs for me, one in a TR6 and one in my current Stag. I drove a 150 miles each way to make sure it went to someone who knew what they were doing. I would have no hesitation in using him again. He also sorted 2 minor jobs that he noticed whilst the car was with him but only after I gave the go ahead. Photos of what has been done and takes the time to explain how and why. My Stag drives soooo quietly now it is a pleasure to take get behind the wheel and drive, apart from it being a Triumph of course
  13. Kent TRs took a run there a coupe of years ago, very impressive.
  14. Living on the Isle of Sheppey the slog to Dover takes about 45 minutes so no contest, either the chunnel or Dover ofr us Kentish types. I used to live in Pompey and the kids still do so either crossing would suit me. Sorry just trying to get my number of posts into double figures.
  15. Originality is always best when dealing with the rarer cars, within reason of course, some sensible mods for driveability etc Personally if I owned a rare car I would go with the original colour and in this case it also suits the Herald.
  16. Or not fitted correctly you will need to make sure the pipe is pushed well home into the pump before tightening the union and to seal the olive against the pipe.
  17. Thanks John, that works for the forum as a whole, which I have now done but I was trying to do it for individual topics, emgine, electrical etc so that it shows the latest posts first. Paul
  18. Everytime I visit the forum I have to reset the filter to show the latest postings in descending order. Even worse I have to set this for each board so how do I get the site to "remember" my preferences? Paul
  19. Years ago I fitted one to a Cortina Estate, best picking a rear wipe motor already fitted to a production car so an old Fiesta would probably be a good start. Must be loads in scrap yards, sorry, on the shelves in breakers commercial units.
  20. I had wires on a TR6 and the day before an mot one of the tubeless tyres split the inner tube, resulting in a frantic effort to get a replacement fitted in the morning of the mot. I fitted a set of minilights within a week and they completely transformed the cars handling especially on bends and country roads. I know you can get tubeless wires now but once i had driven the car with minilites it was no contest.

    Oil pressure

I would change the oil at least annually, normally before laying up for the winter so its not sitting in the sump with all the products of combustion.
