Forgive me but I was brought up be my dad to be a Ford man, and nearly all the cars I’ve owned since I passed my test in 1972 have been Fords. In the day I always liked the look of Triumphs and at last, after 59 years ( ! ), I’ve got one.
In 2020, after I retired, I joined the Torbay Old Wheels Club, and sneaked in my 1998 Ford Cougar. A bit young for the club but what you might call a modern classic. Anyway, after three years of fun with that, I have seen the light, sold it and bought a Vitesse. I think it has previously been in the club, and if anyone has any info on it, it would be interesting to hear. I’ve only had it a week, and my wife Alison and I have done a couple of runs in it, but it feels like Christmas come early. Can’t wait for some better weather.Hi and welcome, nice looking machine.

I'm not convinced simply removing the lip finisher will make a lot of difference corrosion-wise. The cause is generally condensation on the underside of the roof panel running forward and becoming trapped between the roof and screen surround. That junction remains the weakness / water trap in the few 'de-seamed' solutions I've seen.
As Doug says, it's amazing how much difference such a minor change makes to the GT6 shape.

I agree with you, done mine a while ago and the corrosion was from the inside. Condensation.

Great, sadly I don't have a picture, but nice tale, be about 1972 I bought a fiat 500 from Birtley car auction for £27 it was a blue one 1967. I repaired a dent on front wing and put a new exhaust. Ran it for a wee while and sold it for £125. Gone are the days ...

The metal will have stretched. 5 mm is too much to fill. I would gently heat the area with a torch to shrink it in while tapping it with a body hammer and dolly. They'll be loads of you tube videos on shrinking.

This country's system is crazy now. They teach the kids metric at school, but we still use miles? Fuel sold in litres but we still calculate mpg. And drink pints.
My daughter just last week sat her driving test and said the sat nav bit was telling distance in yards. Serious man.

Maybe be best to use a thin slitting wheel on a grinder.
-
I have a bosch and a Hitachi angle grinder, picked up both with offers on at the time they replaced a 15 year old proline. The new ones are very smooth runners.

I always liked citroens over the years to me they always had the best designers. But I never owned one till my daughters c1, which is really a toyota.🤔🤣

Hi Pete I know, did it on my phone and it loaded it up there. I've went into edit but can't seem to move the pic up.

My daughters citroen c1 had a grumble rear wheel bearing. It can be a bugger to get out, the wheel nut pad looked similar to the triumph, so I got put my homemade puller. The wheel pad is almost the same, I elongated the pullers holes a wee bit. Bolted it onto the citroen and bang pulled the bearing straight off. Triumph to the rescue.

Sorry about that, my brains fiddled.🤣

Sorry I can't seem to insert the process, tried to delete it in edit but it's not working. Please ignore below, I'll try again later.

My daughters peugeot 107 needed a new remote key, iit would close but not open on press of the button. The key would open the door fine. I put a new battery but no good. It was temperamental at best. We decided to get a new remote from the AA. He came last night , nice bloke, cut the key then cloned it to the car. Here's the process.
Now who on earth thinks of these things, I thought I might as well stand in the kitchen at midnight on my left leg and swing the cat round my head 3 times it worked anyway, not the kitchen bit though, but thought process must've been the same 🤣

All this technology is because they can market and sell the car for more money, also we are not supposed to be able to fix it and the dealers expect to make even more money on servicing and repairs.

We had some great fun with communication with the japanese. I married a japanese girls, 20 years later still have amusing conversations. 🤣

The japanese call nyloc nuts techno nuts, we had a right time explaining what a nyloc was back in the 90s, then the penny dropped ahhh! Techno nut .
-
Yes they can cut the key from the key number

I can back up what Chris says, keytrader made me a key too from a pic . Worked great, superb service.

Hi Josef, just started reading your post. Great work making the panels, I used to live in various places in the North east and remember the restoration club, I wasn't a member but went to some of their open days. Give my regards to lenny ball , I dont know if you know him, he's in the resto club, I used to work with him in the 70s. He'll know me if you mention my name. Bonas machine company, we were jig borers there. I'm gonna go back and read your resto from the start. Flog on bonny lad.😀
I found my missing horses!
