  1. Mine is a 72 (L) with self adjust brakes but no servo. Well it didn't come with one. I don't think you can drill the backplate to fit the manual adjuster as it won't go opposite the wheel cylinder and you need to have that. The way written on here in a previous post is correct but parts hard to get. Just have to figure out a way round it.
  2. Half shafts won't fit though tr7 are a full axle. Hence wondering if tr7 back plates would be anywhere near a fit. I read before on here of changing to manual adjusters but I've searched and dolomite parts are rare too. I'll have to get a back plate and try. I believe 4speed and 5 are different. I'll cost up back plates.
  3. quick question, would a full back brake system ie. drums, shoes, backplates adjusters be able to fit to a late gt6 to replace the gt6 system of auto adjust? I had thought to change it to manual adjust but you cant seem to get the parts to do this either, so I wondered if I could use tr7 bits. anyone tried it?

Thanks for all the advice guys. I'll take all on board and have a think. Haven't bought anything yet. So hopefully I'll get it done soon. Keep you updated. I've had the car 7 years. New floors sills and inner sills in. I then stopped as work and family time didn't allow. I've just retired now so start again. I posted All on here before the new site but all was lost. As I get going again I'll Re post some of the early work. Thanks again

Thanks for the advice. The garage is dry lined there is the outer wall then insulation then breeze blocks which are topped with wood. . The rsj would sit on the wood on top of the breeze blocksI reckoned the gt6 engine would be about 200kg. And the naked shell without doors and interior less. So maybe max lift. 1/4 ton. My hook and chains are about 30kg. I can butt the rsj at both ends and lock it in.

hi, I am thinking of buying a rgs girder to sit across my garage walls, this would be used to support my lifting hook , lifting engines and my gt6 body off the chasis. the length of the girder would be just under 5m. any idea what size girder I would need to say lift 1 ton max. ie. depth and width and thickness. don't think it would even need to be a ton, just overkill.just don't want to get one that's not up to it.
  7. thanks for the replies chaps, the car came with a fibreglass bonnet which wasn't fastened on, ive since bought a steel one and I trial fitted it to check door gaps etc and noticed the brackets missing.
  8. on my gt6 mk 3 I only have one bonnet pivot, I have found these spitfire ones and bought them , they are listed as no longer available. these pictured are slightly different to the one I have, but it may have been butchered or from a herald/vitesse . anyone know if these spit ones will be ok? I hope they will. the spit ones are pictured as a pair, the gt6 one is what I have note difference
