  1. The japanese call nyloc nuts techno nuts, we had a right time explaining what a nyloc was back in the 90s, then the penny dropped ahhh! Techno nut .
  2. Yes they can cut the key from the key number
  3. I can back up what Chris says, keytrader made me a key too from a pic . Worked great, superb service.
  4. Hi Josef, just started reading your post. Great work making the panels, I used to live in various places in the North east and remember the restoration club, I wasn't a member but went to some of their open days. Give my regards to lenny ball , I dont know if you know him, he's in the resto club, I used to work with him in the 70s. He'll know me if you mention my name. Bonas machine company, we were jig borers there. I'm gonna go back and read your resto from the start. Flog on bonny lad.😀
  5. A beacon of light to all in the u.k and indeed mankind. Very sad loss to us all.
  6. While doing the brakes on my daughters modern, I was changing rear wheel cylinders, I couldn't shift the brake pipe and didn't want to cut it, I didn't have a brake flare spanner either so I rummaged around in my old sockets box found some 11mm, slotted them out so the 3/16 brake pipe went in, welded a bar onto the socket and it worked a treat. I've since made a 10mm one as well.
  7. It looks to me like metal fatigue. You'll need to take the door off cut that section out and weld in new metal. Take some reference positions for the hole from a decent door.
  8. Your body's like the old spitfire wimpus, bit of tendon welding and you'll go a fair few more years. Get well soon buddy.
  9. Sorry to hear that wimpus, I hope it heals quickly, after the op keep it dry I've found it heals things faster, ask me how I know.(50 years in mid to heavy engineering might have something to do with it)
  10. Exactly right Exactly right, where are all the green brigade now. Get over to Russia and preach to them.
  11. Hi Paul, no I haven't I know what to expect as I'm retired toolmaker, the bottles are small so no free hits,so I'm saving gas, I'll only fire them up when I need them. There's videos on you tube. Like I said handy to have.
  12. I would say no, it'll give too much distortion, ok for chasis repairs but the gas wouldn't last long, mig would be better. As said I bought it for seized bolts etc. Gets hotter than my plumbers canister blow torch. You can get a cheaper one I think £109, but the extra bottles save you money on the set I bought.

    Bit of heat

Just bought these on ebay, mine came with 2 extra bottles, I don't have oxygen acetylene but these heat to 3000 degrees, can gas weld with it but I just wanted it for rusty bolts, bushes etc. Ideal.i don't have any connections with company. https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/CASTOLIN-PORTABLE-GAS-LEAD-WELDING-BRAZING-PLUMBING-ROOFING-MINI-PORTAPACK-KIT-/234051600492?mkcid=16&mkevt=1&_trksid=p2349624.m46890.l6249&mkrid=710-127635-2958-0
  14. Sorry to hear about domino Colin, hopefully you will get another their all different characters. Sad time though.
  15. Well it all turned out nicely in the end, parcelforce couldn't find it, they didn't even know where the dog cage came from. Getis, on here offered me a good tailgate frame, so I bought it, it came today but the post had damaged it even although it was well wrapped. I managed to repair it though, so now I'm happy. And I sold the dog cage on gumtree ha ha.i
  16. You'd think somebody getting a tailgate would get back on to parcelforce and say what's this?? Unless they have a gt6 and are good at repairs, ha
  17. No further forward but parcelforce are on the case. I'm not optimistic 😕
  18. I'm not bad at panel repair sections, but I'll draw the line at making a tailgate from a dog cage. Ha ha
  19. The dog cage came from pets at home obviously through parcelforce, it's them that's messed up, I'm hoping they can sort it. Surely the expectant dog cage owner is looking for it but pets at home might just send them another. I'm hoping whoever got my tailgate has also complained to somebody.
  20. Thankyou for the offer, can I let you know next week please?
  21. Recently bought a tailgate for my mk3 gt6 on ebay, it was holed but restorable condition, the origonal was too far gone, was really looking forward to making all the repair sections to bring it back. Big box comes by parcelforce, it's a bloody dog cage, they've mixed the labels up. The seller and I have both been on to parcelforce but I only have low hopes. Really annoying as it's such a unique part and they rarely come up. 😭 keep your fingers crossed for me this coming week.
  22. I got a 97 volvo v70 auto when our twins were born in 2005, it was great, winter or sport mode on the box, 2.5cc only 25mpg. Kept it 8 years . Sold it to I bloke far north of Scotland, I was living in Durham at the time he came down in the train. Its still taxed and tested now. Wish I'd kept it.
