  1. Hi. What is the proper/New UJ, as compared to original, please?. Dave
  2. My bottle is "down on dirty", though I prefer this. Shows the car has a life/had a life. (and not just because, I really can't be be bothered to detail the engine bay anyway). I find "show queens" a bit boring with often no story, since they became queens. Just personal preferences I guess which good, as gives diversity. If every car was like mine, then that would be a bit boring. Dave
  3. I have heard that disk calipers ideally need to bled (by sqeezing the pistons in) after running new fluid through to remove water that stays there, but did not know that applies to removing wheel cylinders for the same issue. What a faf !. I have always changed fluid every 2/3 years without doing the above, but this implies it's maybe a waste of time?. Thanks, Dave
  4. Just surprised by that. Why were so many drivers in the hard shoulder and not seeing a car stopped ahead?. Where was that info from?. Dave
  5. Hi. I know they are close together, though seems to happen frequently. Is this common (or just me) please. Cheers, Dave
  6. Well done. What a good feeling I imagine, to rescue and resurrect. Dave
  7. Thanks a lot. Saved me a bob or two (or more like a fiver or two!) Dave
  8. Hi everyone and a Happy New year to you all. Can I get away with using EP 80, GL4 (Haynes says EP 90) please?, as I already have some. Car not driven hard. Thanks, Dave
  9. Maybe a good idea to run the car for a few miles to warm the oil, as drains better. Dave
  10. Much better to give them some runs out. Dave
  11. Have used the Wilko one for a few years, changed at around 3000 miles. Don't drive hard, though never lost any pressure, even on very hot days.
  12. Do you not get dirt/insects etc sucked into the engine with that? (just interested). Dave
  13. Hi. My Vitesse has Minilite replicas, though the spare is original. Does anyone know if my Minilite wheel nuts will be suitable for the spare please (have been meaning to check this when the car jacked up, but keep forgetting). Thanks, Dave
  14. Cheers Pete and have a HNY. There's one for sale locally. £25.00 that looks sound, off the photo's. I'm Ummin and arinn. Am I ever likely to need it. I guess it's that old chestnut. Buy bargain priced spares, but maybe never need them?, which I've been doing a bit of. And storage space is tight. Only I can decide!. Thanks, Dave
  15. Hi. Been unable to confirm Part no's for both of these. Is it the same part does anyone know, please?. Cheers, Dave
  16. Thanks folks. Out of interest Nick, what plugs are you using and aside from longevity, what running improvements did you have please. Cheers, Dave
  17. Hi. Have been reading that may affect combustion a bit, depending on where the outer electrode position is in relation to fuel/air direction is coming into the head. Not after fractions of better performance etc (apparently some folk use the triple electrode plugs for this) , though could this affect plug colour readings, bit Richer/Weaker,when I, look to determine basic mixture settings by plug colour. Thanks, Dave .
  18. Wondering that myself. Very heavy rain flooding into the slightly raised grill section of the shelf behind the top bonnet seal, then running down inside, onto the bulkhead?. Dave
  19. I use mine all year round. I think/hope, if protected, Waxoil, etc and hosed off, dirt scraped from known mud traps after winter (roads not salted much here), Try and avoid water entering floors, deck, boot, then okish?. Back in the day, most of these motors were neglected body/chassis wise, did higher mileage in wet, more salty conditions. Not surprising they were rust buckets after 10 years or so I imagine?. Dave
  20. Hi. Richard, when you say corners of window, where it pools. Is this the windscreen, or somewhere else please?. Thanks, Dave
  21. Thanks Guys. Will give it a test when I have some free time Dave
  22. Thanks for the response folks. I think I read the figures correctly for Mk1 2 Litre in FWM at deceleration, at the crank 4,600 RPM = Min 15/Max 19 advance 6,400 RPM = Min 16/Max 20 advance So around 19.5 max advance at 6000 RPM possibly give or take. This appears way different from above graph which I'm reading as about 32 advance at 6000 RPM?. Yours, confused
  23. Hi. Thought I would give the mapping a go as suggested and bought a second hand (though unused) Gunsons Neontune strobe. The FWM gives figures at 500, 600, 1500, 2300, 4600, 6400 RPM. What's safe to go up to please?, bearing in mind my engine is well used. Thanks, Dave
  24. Thanks. Did wonder if it may be that. If I jack up one side of rear so wheel off ground. Run the car in gear with clutch in, and if the wheel is turning, then is clutch dragging?. Cheers, Dave
