  1. Not particularly complicated, but necessary. Posted in 2019 by some chap from Luton. Doug
  2. Dave, A workshop manual will tell all, well mostly all. We all have a Haynes and some generate to a hardcore Triumph, available from the club shop. Probably best to buy the car first! Doug
  3. Well done Sandy, we've all done it, well, not Pete, obviously. Doug
  4. Grow up John. Else I resurrect some of your old posts! Doug
  5. Yup, what Nigel says, advance till the revs stop rising then back a gnats, go for a run, pinking? Back a gnats more. Or by vacuum, advance till maximum vacuum then back one bar. Fun to do them in tandem and find they're both correct! Doug
  6. Dave is a friend and knows full well, that was a joke. But not you, obviously. Doug
  7. Once upon a time I didn't know what end float was, I could push my crank back and forth "donk donk, donk donk" Is that bad I thought? It felt like 1/4" but probably not that much, although bad enough to have damaged the bores. The bearings tried to hold the con rods and pistons vertical and the bores started to wear into an elongated "S" shape. Bad enough for my first re-bore. Don't worry Dave, it'll be fine. Doug
  8. Dunno, but the head light switch is put in peril with ALL the current for the head lights running through it. The contacts tarnish, it becomes resistive and turns into an electric heater, drops the voltage and dims the lights Best to instal a relay carrying the headlight current and have the switch work the relay. Doug
  9. The one that started it all in 1978, still here in 2024 And another one that started it all. Doug
  10. Hm, mine doesn’t have a back plate, it just clips in the hole and the sticky out plastic bendy bits hold it in place. Doug
  11. Or you could buy a new switch and pop it in the hole, go on! You know you want to! A shiny new switch or a dull manky old one? Doug
  12. I don't think either of those are GT6 hazard switches for your model. This is the standard switch It, simply clicks into the hole as does the round connector one. But I think the round connector may be off a Stag? Doug
  13. Was one a doner for the other? Just watching a day time cop show about stolen donor parts (human donor parts!) Doug
  14. A heritage certificate will tell you how it started out. British Motor Museum | Heritage Certificates Doug
  15. I bought my GT6 in 1978, 30k miles IIRC. Gearbox failed in 1983 at 50k(?) Got a "recovered" one of uncertain heritage, cheap. It's still running fine now at 70k. I've had to regularly replace the linkage bits, twice or more(?) and they need doing again! The block has had two re-bores and re-grinds. I've also had a broken rear spring and boken vertical link In fact in it's 50 years EVERYTHING that can fail has, sometimes twice. But I'm happy with the gearbox, probably because it has no OD and I'm a poser not a racer! Doug

Have you read all my posts? I've got the Black Spot! Doug
  17. I can see why you've so many posts Colin!
  18. I did look recently at doing English Lit at the OU, it costs about £7k a year for 3 years. Turns out I can get a Student Loan and being a pensioner I have an apparently low income. Which means I would be paying back only £200 odd a year. After 40 years the loan is written off when I'd be 116. Doug
  19. Some don't like braided hoses. Non-braided you can see when the rubber starts to bulge and that's when you change them! I used to be Ceng, but in retrospect I really wish I'd done English Lit. Doug
  20. Pretty sure you'll need a receipt. And who do you sort it out with, the dealer or the manufacturer? I had a "guaranteed for life" stainless exhaust, the welds and baffles started to fail. I think I bought it from Rimmers, but it was 40 years ago. Doug

The issue is not about logging into the club shop, but about sending an email to the club shop. clubshop@tssc.org.uk does not work for me. Nor do: info@tssc.org.uk trudi@tssc.org.uk courier@tssc.org.uk I believe access can be barred/locked out at the TSSC server, completely or for individuals. Doug .

As an AO I get a monthly "New Members" list which has to be acknowledged by pressing a tab. Today I've an email that says we attempted to deliver your message over several days but failed to get through. So I tried to ping membership which is info.tssc.org.uk but no response. I've also tried the Club Shop, Accounts and Editor, again no response. I phoned HQ and spoke to Trudi, they are unaware of any problem, she will ask Tom. Has anybody else got a problem, or is it just me? Doug
  23. For £75k I would expect the doors to fit! QN's example is much nicer, but aesthetically TOO long. Doug
