I don't think the rattle is a problem, just a quirk of the cars. It only lasts a couple of seconds, less than the time it takes to put on the seat belt. I would just advise not to immediately floor the pedal when you start up, as with any engine be kind until it is warm. After the first start of the day I don't get it again until the car has been left unused for several days.
  2. I know it wouldn't be to your taste as you prefer the simpler things in life . . .But Colin is that be more adventurous
  3. Not NOS but might appeal to your refined tastes. https://www.ebay.fr/itm/363915142741?hash=item54bb086655:g:J~4AAOSwdrhbz-S9
  4. Words, other than those the moderator would delete, fail me. . .
  5. **THREAD DRIFT** This refers to your comment on the other site thread I assume? I've got the same type of wheel on my 13/60 and might be interested, I do need to spend more money on MY car 😁. Pop a link on the other thread, ta!
  6. You can't take it with you they say. In my case I won't have any to take with me. Today's expenditure on the car : 13€11 split almost 50/50 between the cost of a new heater fan switch and postage. At least fitting it was genuinely a 5 minute job.
  7. As Colin says. Although that particular model may be quite old the style is still in use by some mechanics; although the unit is in plastic these days. A nice bit of kit!

I'm happy with it now that I am used to it. I suspect my neighbours think the car has starting problems, but who cares what the neighbours think 😁
  9. Straight forward 'fine tuning' easy when you use the right hammers. Good to read you got it sorted.
  10. You can rely on me, I don't even know what you are talking about. . .

Look on the bright side. The delay in starting while petrol gets to the carbs gives the oil pump time to pressure the system and avoid 'The Death Rattle'.
  13. I would agree with that, there isn't a week that goes by without the problem coming up. Buy Gates from a proper supplier. I bought mine from the local car spares place, they supply to just about every garage in the area.
  14. So it would seem, I'll try and remember that.
  15. Hummm. . . They tend to disappear very quickly after reaching the store room, I have no idea where they go, they just disapear . . .
  16. Not necessarily. There are quite few different standards - E5 & E10, maximum pressure etc. I would have thought any reliable motor parts store would ONLY be selling hose that was at least ok for E5 & E10, plus diesel and high pressure. J30R7 is ok for E5 & E10, I believe. Check out Frost.co.uk for the various specs.
  17. Possibly as much as a new loom? It's not that hard to check a loom Out of interest I've just looked up how much a new loom costs, 300€ ish. If my local man would do the under dash area for that I would pay that and give him some extra beer/wine tokens!
  18. I know. If you really want to help you could pop round and rewire it for me. All the tea & coffee you can drink but I'm afraid the bacon isn't up to your usual standards. 😁
  19. No, it's just that slow coach Mr Lindsay . . .
  20. That man Doug got there before you AGAIN!
