  1. Common conversion. Roy Lacy ( go on Facebook) has it in his mk1 gt6 And does the round Britain and 10 countries run
  2. I am near shrewsbury and know my heralds. If anyone wants me to take a look I would be happy.

    Ireland 2018

Peak season prices are high but offers do pop up. Also Tesco clubcards can be used. I strongly suggest heading for the west coast. And working down from Connemara. The burren is a must along with the Cliffs of Moher. Blarney castle .. hmm. But Molls gap is great. Then to the Ring of Kerry. If time head further south to bear island. Best research - read Macarthys bar and round Ireland with a fridge.
  4. I had a fire once. Caused by the live overdrive supply chafing on the clutch pipe. The wiring behind the battery was alight I probably did everything wrong at the time. And pulled off the positive battery lead and smothered the fire. Then chucked water over it Since then I have always carried a fire extinguisher. Cheap at Aldi etc.
  5. I have had a similar problem for years on a d type. . Intermittent and rarely engages at high revs, or when gearbox is hot .Slow to kick in especially compared with my other triumphs J type. I will first swap the OD solonoid.
  6. inhibitor switch is a doddle to swap once you have the gearbox cover off, and cheap. worth a try.
  7. Surely you have simply recommissioned it after a long storage.
  8. Use rubber car mats under the ramps.
  9. Or. How about contacting a steel framed farm shed company.
  10. I would always suggest brick / block. Pretty minimal maintenance. We are currently building a 9x6 m garage. Double with store behind and storage in attic. Charging £36 k. Brick plinth blockwork above. Tiled roof. It's for a mate so not a lot of margin !
  11. i would hesitate before investing in antique furniture. We live in a house stuffed full of antiques, and they seem to be going down in value . Brown antiques just are not popular amongst the under 70s. My herald has barely moved in value in 30 years and My Bond shows no sign of creeping up despite its rarity.
  12. Lots of things affect it. My Herald was similarand over read by 10 percent. My Bond Under read by ten percent. I put the herald wheels on the bond and vice versa. The Bond was shod with 185 /13 tyres so a high rolling circumferance. Now both are almost spot on ( and the Bond accellerates like a demon ! )
  13. its reassuring to see an insurer thats interested. We always planned to restore a herald for my son when he was 17, now it just sits motionless , as insurance is so unlikely.
  14. its a tricky art, as you have discovered. Lower power and slower I suggest. Obviously it will find any thin steel , which is why people always used to plate for the MOT.
  15. Or can you borrow a car trailer ?
  16. its not a huge boot, but its a lovely car! Not a patch on my old XJ6 (XJ40) though, but 50 MPG and 200 bhp. Easier to load kayaks on the roof than the old C4 Picasso.though more care required.... Herald is the keeper though.
  17. Loosen every bolt, its the only way. There are also two on the "Rear Hump" behind the back seat . and some more under the fuel tank.and opposite.
  18. it could be the spring returns on the SU CARBS. mine can be a right arse !
  19. i fancied an XK8 but we were replacing the family C4 picasso , so a Sportbrake, it is.Quick and comfy !
  20. Doug... I have just bought an XF ........ oh.........oh.........oh...........
  21. its not so long ago TR6 drivers ignored heralds.....
  22. https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/272641279602
  23. Each key should have a number on it. Starting FS. They are a Wilmot breed on key iirc. On eBay simply search for the key number. There are a number of suppliers. Alternatively most large classic car events have a key Guy.
  24. I was shot down over the forum too. i had recently rejoined having been a member in the mid 80s-90s. Living rurally the forum was a joy, then Pop. When it went down i was part of the group who helped establish the facebook page. Not the Clunky official club one no basically uses, but the Triumph Sports six page that actually has no club backing . Sue contributes, but thats about it ! The club has obvious financial needs, but getting rid of Garth isnt a great idea........
