    herald oil pressure

Thanks for that. makes scene what you say, still leaves me in a quandary about what to do !!!!
  2. Hi i am sure this has been discussed before. But:- The oil pressure oil comes on after a short journey on tick over, i have no knowledge of the history or mileage of this engine. It runs well has normal power and burns little oil.I was preparing to do a bottom end rebuild, but thought prior to this i fitted a mechanical oil pressure gauge. On tick-over and up to running temperature the light comes on at 25lb Running in fourth at 50mph pressure is 75lb. Given these readings i feel the engine is in good health and probably has a oversensitive pressure switch. Should i stop worrying or continue with the bottom end rebuild. Your thoughts would be appreciated. Many thanks Allen
  3. Hi i have the dreaded vibration from my herald. At 45 there is a high frequency vibration through the whole Car, on replacing the uj,s i found wear on the yokes also the prop appears visually to run out by at least 1mm. i have seen on the forum a chap who sells replacement props could someone enlighten me as to who this is. Many thanks Allen
  4. Thanks for that much appreciated. On hols at mo will get on the phone soon as i an back.been away for nearly two weeks getting triumph with drawals.
  5. Hi i am worried sbout the time it takes in the morning for my oil light to go out. I dont rev it it takes about 15 seconds. Once out its never seen again even on slow tick ovet in town traffic. I wondered if the oil filter should have an anti drain valve ?? Thoughts would be appreciated.
  6. Thanks for your thougbts been having trouble loging back into the forum.i seem to have it running well kn the twin carbs at the moment other than needle valve periodically sticking. Just brought new ones but going on two week holiday and trying to finish stuff of a work before i go. Thanks again for the replies.
  7. Hi all i have recently joined the TSSC again after a 30 year gap, at that time i had a mk3 spitfire wish i still had it. i did have constant issues with the carbs. following an 18 month restoration of a 1200 Herald, I have bought a mk3 spitfire. I love it but again trouble with the carbs. they have been rebuilt by the previous owner, but the choke was sicking., Sorted this, then one of the needle vales kept sticking, now sorted. however i continue to have trouble with smooth running. To my question can i convert to a single carb set up, im not into power just want a nice running car that ticks over smoothly. also should this car have a mechanical rev counter ? Do i remember right, was it driven of the distributor, this one has no facility ? All thoughts would be appreciated. Allen
