  1. Reference to the cinema becoming a car showroom on this page: http://www.eastbourneherald.co.uk/news/local/rolling-back-years-to-reveal-inn-site-s-past-1-6336767 Hopefully a few clues for you there Steve - might be time to take a run to the seaside!
  2. According to the Flickr page, this building is "Trinity Place Garage". https://www.flickr.com/photos/28976636@N07/16123824309 It used to be a cinema, which closed in 1965 - see here: https://www.flickr.com/photos/28976636@N07/9526063626 The buildings are long gone, as you can see from the 2nd Flickr link, retirement flats now stand on the site. This link http://www.eastbourneherald.co.uk/news/local/remarkable-town-stalwart-dies-aged-85-1-1406310 is an obituary of a Mr. Denys Lambert, who "...joined his father at Clark and Lambert, a garage in Trinity Place, Eastbourne, which merged with Caffyns in the early 1980s."
  3. Interested to see that Howlett Bros, Sudbury, Suffolk was still on the Triumph Dealer List in 1974. My Spitfire was supplied new by them in January 1973, and serviced and repaired at the same garage until 2003! By the mid 70s they were a Datsun dealer (according to the invoices with the service history) and later moved to Ford. According to Google Streetview the showroom is still there behind a big supermarket, no doubt awaiting redevelopment. According to a local Datsun enthusiast on Flickr https://www.flickr.com/photos/7430965@N05/5085953396, the garage was latterly a fast-fit outlet before closing. The Howlett business has moved to a different site I believe. Does anybody else have a Suffolk registered Triumph or know anything about Howlett's of Sudbury?
  4. The price dropped to £1995 shortly after my first post. It's also advertised on Gumtree as "trade" (same photos, also listed as Ford!), location given as Keady which is a bit far from Richhill? I googled the phone number from the Gumtree ad and it's been used to advertise antique furniture, firewood and tree/log cutting services. I don't really understand the story about the clutch. Looks like the tunnel carpet has been off recently...
  5. It has been known on occasion - but the low annual mileage on my Spitfire probably gives an indication of how much we get!
  6. Yep, wondered why it hadn't come up in my usual "Triumph" search - only appeared when I searched Northern Ireland region (all makes). No under bonnet photos though, maybe there's an Essex V6 under there??
  7. That looks lovely Colin, 13/60 or not. Was wondering if you (or anybody else in Northern Ireland) were familiar with this one for sale in County Armagh? http://www.carandclassic.co.uk/car/C704613 No mention of it on the GB MoT site and according to the DVLA it hasn't been taxed since 2001? I'm a bit suspicious if somebody can't be bothered to push a car out into the sunshine for some decent pics! Would consider a nice Herald convertible to replace the Spitfire to allow family outings but I suspect £2500 is a bit much if it hasn't been on the road for 15 years?
  8. Doesn't look like good news I'm afraid. Looking up the details on https://www.vehicleenquiry.service.gov.uk/ show that it was due to be taxed in 2004 (and wasn't), and isn't currently taxed or SORNed. There's no MoT data which means it's not currently tested in GB or Northern Ireland. Also it's not shown on https://www.check-mot.service.gov.uk/ which implies it hasn't had an MoT in Great Britain since the mid-2000s at least. So unless it's been exported outside the UK, RVK172S may be no longer with us
