  1. I totally agree, please see below more pics. Rich
  2. Darren, Pete i totally agree but the rim is 14 x 6J. How can or why would someone put on a 13 inch rim on a 14 inch. Perhaps the picture can shed some light and confirm what ive got from the advert on ebay. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/252316652840?ssPageName=STRK:MESELX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1555.l2649 Thanks
  3. Yes Richard i re-read your post, i think the tyres are too small for the rim which is bizarre. I am selling them at present but after cleaning them up, removing underseal and everything else that was sprayed on by the PO did i identify the real size and make (14 x 6J Dunlop). Ive adjusted my adverts to reflect the amended size and looking at the rims they seem to poke out about 10/12 mm from where the tyre bead sits on both sides which could be due to them being 13 inch on a 14 inch rim. Chatting to a friend who has a garage said that the 13 inch rim will sit lower in/on the wheel and still give a 13 inch profile but its not an ideal mix. Im still going to replace them with 5J x 13s like Darren but just curious of the mix of wheel/tyres on the car. Regards Rich
  4. After cleaning my spokes i found the original size (14x6J) which i believe to be 14 inch rims and 6 inches wide. Funny thing is the tyres on it are 165 x 65 x 13. Has anyone ever come across this before as i doubt the rims and tyres haven't been stamped wrong Thanks Rich
  5. Pete, Darren many thanks, regards Rich
  6. Darren many thanks for all you great advice, did you have to cut down the m12 studs prior to fitting the minilites or were they long enough? Regards Rich
  7. Richard I think the offset is taken from the centre of the wheel itself. When I spoke to John Brown's they stated that it's different for some wheels due to the cast and model. Regards Rich
  8. Darren many thanks, my minds made up, 5Js it is. Just need to sell my wires now
  9. Darren sorry forgot to mention but the wheels on the website are 5.5 or 5J is this 5.5 inches across and if you've got 5's are they wide enough? Thanks Rich
  10. Darren many thanks for all the great info, im going to go with the JBW ones. My car has been lowered slighty with spax shocks by the previous owner so im inclined to get the same size tyres to raise it by 8-9mm. In regards the nuts did you use closed end and if relevant locking nuts? Great blog by the way and really useful, if i was closer i'd buy you a pint In response to you Clive i think its a standard diff. i'll need to get under and have a look. kind regards Rich
  11. Darren, John many thanks for your helpful posts, im going to measure the studs as the wires havent got any spacers between them so could be the short option. In regards to wheel size is 13 x 5J's the usual wheel. The offset of ET 20 and the same wheels would look great on my Mk1 Vitesse, does the offset bring the wheels further out towards the wheel arch hence ET20? Im currently running 165/65/13 tyres would these fit on the 13 x 5J's? Sorry for all the questions Regards Rich
  12. Hello all, I'm looking at selling my chrome MWS wire wheels and getting some minilites as a replacement. The wires look great but I don't want the hastle of having inner tubes etc and I really like the look of minilites. The question is would the minilites bolt straight onto the vitesse hubs? The wires are 13" so I'd be replacing them with the same size minilites or equivalent. Many thanks for all your help Kind regards Rich
  13. Likewise, i found my pipe from the waterpump housing that goes under the inlet maifold was full of brown nastyness. Once i cleaned it through heater worked a treat :-)
  14. Glad its all sort Aidan. its nice to see the needles move to the correct area on thge guage. regards Rich
  15. Pete many thanks Have a great Christmas Regards Rich
  16. 68vitesse, roughly how many shims did you use? If i have a start state it should take me less time. Kind regards Rich
  17. Thank you all very much for the replies Regards Rich
  18. Hello all, Just greased up my steering rack and noticed it was rather tight to turn the wheels lock to lock. I've adjusted it so it's not so tight but require some spacers/shims to place between the lock nut and steering column so I get the correct endfloat. Does anyone know where I can source these? Many thanks Rich
  19. Well thats one side all in a nice and taught, does anyone know where i can get the clips that screw into the rear hood frame and which the chrome strip clips into? Thanks Rich
  20. Thanks Steve both pieces are rotten so time to measure ???? Regards Rich
  21. Great, many thanks for all your replies. Ive also begun to replace the webbing on the convertable hood which goes across the roof bars. Does anyone know how to measure and fit the webbing ? Once again many thanks Rich
  22. Many thanks for all your replies, i think I'm going to go down the screw and bolt route as you say Steve i don't want to be drilling them out. Regards Rich
  23. Hello all, I'm half way through sorting out my Convertable hood and frame but wondering how the rear of the hood fixes to the rear deck of the car? When I took it off I had to unscrew each popper base and the screw just looked like a normal wood screw! Should they be pop riveted onto the car or are they supposed to be screwed? Thanks in advance Rich
  24. Cheers Steve, it does look similiar to Johns links above as the numbers are stamped as per the lucas pictures in his link. The only numbers i can see are 768 and then 1188 B. More looking tommorrow
