  1. Good afternoon all, I’m refitting doors, drop glass and quarter-lights etc on my GT6 mk3 and I was wondering just what gaps to expect/go for. Are they always the same all around or different across the bottom compared to ends? Are both ends always the same? I’ve seen many with comparatively huge gaps to the bonnet and also not parallel. I assume that the rear gap is quite important as the latch Mech needs to fit around the striker plate.
  2. Does anyone have any ideas as to why my Vitesse driver's door should suddenly decide to open while I'm driving along. Somewhat alarmingly it does this on sharpish left hand bends, like pulling off a roundabout. Occasionally, I hear a light "click" and I know that it's unlatched so I'm ready for it. It shuts well enough and seems solid, then sometimes changes it mind while once we're moving!
  3. I need to remove the check-strap brackets from a door shell but I cannot see how they’re attached. I cleaned the area on the outside of the shell back to bare metal expecting to uncover some spot-welds, but there’s no evidence of any and inside doesn’t reveal anything either! Was this Triumph’s move towards bonding, long before anyone else? I wish. Would someone please advise where the welds are. The tiny dark patch @ 3 o’clock looks like one but, it’s over the manufacturing location hole in the bracket. Cleaned propely on the inside revealed all four of them! But they don’t show on the outside. Great. Thanks.
  4. The gap between the seal flange and the door is parallel and about 3/4” all around until you get to the top (front and rear) of the door, where the plastic covering is/should be, here it is much closer. Is this correct? Can anyone post some pictures, maybe with a rule across the gaps too? Is there more than one type of seal (size) to the door seals? Apart from the strip on the rear of the screen pillar.
  5. Not really a crisis, but I was finally getting around to cleaning up all my GT6 glass and frames now that the car is truly in bits. All now looking pretty sharp but I discovered the top hinge on the driver’s side quarterlight is broken. I’ve removed the quarterlight pane but the hinge doesn’t look like it can be replaced on its own Does anyone know where I might get a driver’s side 1972 GT6 Mk 3 one of these ? Thanks guys.
  6. Hi all. Haven’t been on for a while !I’ve had to open up my passenger door on my Stag to get a minor dent fixed, and I cannot remember where I got the excellent moisture resistant lining sheet which I put under the interior trim panel. I think it was to keep damp off the panel, and I don’t recall whether I had to glue it or whether it was self adhesive, which I think it was. Does anyone know what stuff I’m talking about ? It’s sort of white translucent material. Thanks as always Richard
  7. I'm hoping to plumb the depths of knowledge on here again with another problem with my Spitfire. Having hopefully fixed my mechanical issues on the Spitfire I'm now looking at the doors. The drivers door opens fully and clicks as the door strap locks onto the locking pin but as soon as I let go of the door it swings shut, normally on my shins. I've fitted a new door strap as the old one had broken but this hasn't made any difference. The passenger door is exactly the opposite it's really stiff to open then stays open at any point of opening and needs quite a bit of force to close it. Is there a way to alter how easily the door opens? Cheers Gary
  8. Hi everyone! I am struggling a bit with my Triumph GT6 MK3 door handles, I just can't seem to figure out how the locking mechanism works? And how they fit in the door, it's probably simple but I can't can't figure it out if anyone can help that would be great! Pics below Thanks, Jim.
  9. Hi. The oval rubber seals, part no 602821 in Rimmer catalogue were missing from my car when I got it. There's no trace of which side they fit. On door or A post, and I am guessing the orientation. Vertically or horizontal? Could someone please have a look on their car, or does one of the experts know? My guess from looking at the options is door horizontal fixing. Also I prefer to glue than add holes for screws. My thoughts was clear silicone sealer, any better suggestions? Car is 74 MKIV. I assume the seals help keep water out of the doors and A Posts so are worth replacement. Thanks as usual for any advice.
