Vitesse boot lid, internal rubber pads/blocks

Hi. Fitted between support struts and top area of boot skin. Some are missing on mine. Are they to prevent any vibration, drumming noise?.

If so can they make much difference?

Thanks Dave that has reminded me they are missing on my car.
I did try gluing a sound pad on the underside of the boot lid but the super strong spray adhesive was not.

every little helps  who knows if  the pads  are to damp panel drumming or  just steady the boot skin 

but the answer is it better to have them than not

just a flatish strip around 1" x 4" x  3/8" thick thats a rough guess 

  never seen a new one  but have a reduced groove to retain under the support bars  ( due to settlement )

you could use any suitable rubber glued or self adhesive  etc

Canley list it as in stock, according to them you need 5 pieces.

while I was outside doing some painting I took a sneaky look in the boot of my 13/60. There are 4 of those pads, why Canley's say you need 5 I don't know unless they count putting it behind the upper fixing for the boot stay. On mine there is what looks like a bit of a scouring pads, usually green although this one is black.

3 of the 4 pads have shrunk and weren't doing anything so a quick measure and cut of some plastazote (thanks Disneyland) to pad out the pads. No idea if they do anything.

Not sure what plastazone is?, though I guess that white plasticky, sort of NOT too compressible foam, that's often used in packaging, could be used?. I always save it as it looks kinda useful. Maybe now's the time

It's a dense foam, we have sheets of it left over from costumes my wife made costumes for Disney in France. The stuff we have is 3mm thick and I use it for all sorts of jobs, it was just the thickness needed to pack out the pads fitted.
