mishmosh Posted October 28, 2015 Report Share Posted October 28, 2015 So this weekend we are off to North wales in my super reliable Herald. Last week the accelerator was a bit sticky . Checked it and noticed the cable was frayed . Only lasted 25 yrs!! So decided to take the opportunity to also swap the pedal as I had a good old one. Gulp ! The old was only just hanging on at the pivot . So it just shows, how lucky I was that the cable frayed, otherwise I could have been up a mountain with a jammed cable, and a non existant pedal pivot. Steve C Posted October 29, 2015 Report Share Posted October 29, 2015 A stitch in time indeed...Try one of the Teflon-coated bike cables from a specialist bike shop, you won't believe the difference. Pete Lewis Posted October 29, 2015 Report Share Posted October 29, 2015 Yes get a long one it makes enough for a spare much cheaper, just get the right nipple and needs a solderless (small slide on nipple with a screw to clamp the inner ) for the cut end, or cut down a terminal block from aelectrical choc block connctor if you get stuck pete Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
mishmosh Posted October 29, 2015 Author Report Share Posted October 29, 2015 bought a stainless cable from Halfords still using the same outer cable,and a really neat little nipple ( looks like a barrel , screw is hidden) from ebay. all now good.
