Spitfire MK1 and MK2 body differences

Lots of differences in interior trim but the only changes in the body are in the door handles/catches and door skins which came during the Mk2 production run. This made the b posts and mountings for the door catches different too. The stainless steel trims on the rear wings are longer on the earliest Mk1s and the flange between the rear wings and the rear deck are longer too. These were changed to allow easier access to the hood poppers and this happened very early in the production run. As far as I know, all the other body panels are the same.

There’s a book by John Thomason - Triumph Spitfire and GT6 A Guide to Originality that details the major differences between the models, and changes during production. Adrian’s summary covers the actual body changes though.

basically the mk1 and 2 bodies are identical with minor changes that happened throughout production run. The only difference that occurred at the mk2 release was the mk2 boot badge and the bonnet grills. Main differences where interior upgrades with carpet and more vinyl trim and the engine had a bit more power due to a different cam and exhaust manifold
