johny Posted August 13, 2022 Report Posted August 13, 2022 Free to download workshop manual looks like it has a pretty good description, at least the Vitesse/GT6 one has and I assume its the same....
foshi Posted August 13, 2022 Author Report Posted August 13, 2022 ok will take a look, thought would ask if someone has done it first hand knowledge is always helpful paul
johny Posted August 13, 2022 Report Posted August 13, 2022 well a diagram worth a 1000 words as they say but yes if stuck previous experience can be very useful👍
Paul H Posted August 13, 2022 Report Posted August 13, 2022 To remove , there are 3 bolts holding rear . Undo from inside and release . Then drag one side at 45 degrees ish and the front section will lease . Do the same with the rear section . Lift off roof covering . Job done Paul

Is it all one piece or 4 sections as you might be able to bring the roof forward . The sun will certainly stretch so leave as long as possible Paul
Pete Lewis Posted August 14, 2022 Report Posted August 14, 2022 to obtain a new handle you first need to get the maker they used webasto and britax both similar but very different beasts look for a makers plate often near the closing handle frame Pete
foshi Posted August 14, 2022 Author Report Posted August 14, 2022 sun done the job working fine now it is a weathershields same as the one originally fitted think may be made by britax

NonMember Posted August 14, 2022 Report Posted August 14, 2022 My first Vitesse had one like that. The plastic handle broke so I fabricated a wooden one, which worked fine.
foshi Posted August 14, 2022 Author Report Posted August 14, 2022 will do seems fine now just a bit brown pants time ,when i had to force it shut grips and rag before the sun done its work
foshi Posted August 14, 2022 Author Report Posted August 14, 2022 thought about trying to make one, my worry was it would snap the locating pins as it did on my original

The plastic handle broke so I fabricated a wooden one, which worked fine. Interesting. Would look posh if smooth and varnished I imagine. Or some appropriate painting to re create original?. Out of interest, as I would like to install a sunroof on 67 Vit (if I have the time and can find one at a good price?) though it needs to be age appropriate for me, which is I understand the wing nut style?. Is it possible to interchange the different 60's style handles/modify etc to accept the above does anyone know? The recessed handle, 70's sunroof, maybe a totally different arrangement to modify for earlier style?. Bit specialized this, but any advice great. Thanks, Dave
foshi Posted August 14, 2022 Author Report Posted August 14, 2022 i have both will take a look tomorrow got a feeling different set up though paul
foshi Posted August 15, 2022 Author Report Posted August 15, 2022 had a look different fitment, probably need to change the hole front mechanism and the front section of the roof . paul
daverclasper Posted August 15, 2022 Report Posted August 15, 2022 Thanks for looking Paul. Just to confirm, the big differences your mentioning, are between the 60s 12/50 and the later recessed 70s one Cheers
