Tipidave
I may have messed up! I have a lovely replacement wooden dash for my 1967 herald 1200… and have only just noticed that the holes for the control knobs are recessed, whereas the original is flat. I have since read that the recessed dash if from an earlier herald. Are the controls the same and interchangeable? The original dash has had two additional holes where a temp gauge and oil pressure gauge were fitted. Any ideas or comment gratefully received before I commit to removing the original. Josef
I’d take an easier to remove switch, say the main light switch, off and see how it fits the new dash.
Colin Lindsay
This seems to be quite common; I have two of the 'overdashes' (one supplied new by TSSC from the Club catalogue quite a few years ago) and whilst the switches and cables will 'sort-of' fit if you centralise them and tighten the bezel up or if you use the large chrome bezels as opposed to the smaller, the ignition switch doesn't. I originally had to make up a metal bracket and screw it to the rear of the dash to make the ignition switch stay in place, but in the end just reveneered an original dashboard and used that. The photo is almost 20 years ago now but you can see how the bezels cover the holes but the ignition switch cut-out was just too big, and I had to use an improvised indicator warning light. That dash is now stored in my roofspace along with the other bought second-hand at Stafford and discarded for the same reason.
