13/60 exhaust manifold

(This started in the gearbox thread, the gearbox is now done but I need to replace my exhaus manifold 😭

I actually managed to get the manifold off without too much pain today, but it's snapped :

where it attaches to the exhaust pipe and it appears where the inlet manifold attaches to it:

Everywhere I've tried so far doesn't have any and the only other thing I can find is a whole stainless steel exhaust. Anyone know where I might find one or someone with the skills to weld the one I have?

Thanks

Tried a couple of breakers, spitbitz, quilter. No joy so far. I can see stainless manifolds but then I'd either have to mate it to the existing exhaust or go the whole hog and do a complete stainless system. If I can't get a replacement any suggestions for a good sports exhaust?

If all else fails you could contact Cast Iron Welding Services, who specialise in classic car cast iron cylinder head repairs etc. I've not used them, but they seem to have a good reputation. Might be pricey, but if you're stuck...

piran.

I am a member of another forum, mig-welding.co.uk

I placed a post on there enquiring about the possibility of weld a cast iron manifold.

You may want to read my post titled. “Cast iron weld “

A lot of the guys on the forum appear to be professional engineers (as demonstrated in some of the posts you’ll see on there).

One of them has made an offer to help Brad93. I don’t know him personally but he contributes to the forum regularly.

You may be able to contact him directly.

 I hope this helps.

Pete.

I`ve seen cast welding carried out, many years ago now. It can be done, it can also be hit and miss. The one parameter that has to be right is preheating, followed by CONTROLLED cooling. It also can affect the granular structure of the casting, ocasionally making the finish (near) imposible to machine. For very large castings, "metalock"ing is more often used.

1 hour ago, foshi said:

couple of engines for sale on ebay with the manifold might be worth asking if they will sell the manifold separately never know

OR, Buy the engine, use the manifold, (re)sell engine and broken manifold as spares?. Could prove cheaper in the long run?. The Basidon one, still has the exh manifold.
