Puglet1
I disassembled the carbs a few months ago and replaced some jets, washers and gaskets. I have foolishly forgotten which position the manifold heat shields sit. Is it the manifold side of the white block or carb side? Does it make a difference? Peter Truman
Here's another variation on my DIY for daughters Mk2 Spit to stop vapour lock, the standard extractors caused the problem. The manifold to carb studs were replaced with threaded bar going right thro the manifold flange and the heat shields mounted on the engine side of the flange Copied from a USA article on a Spit 1500

DanMi
you really want them carb side of the white heat stopping block so they don't get heated by the manifold
Peter Truman
I understand the argument but the car is driven in very hot weather around 40C and summer traffic jams with no problems

Puglet1
Johny. My original logic was the same as yours. Problem I have is DanMi and micklewis suggestions also seems to make sense. It will be interesting to see what others think?
