andyshep
Can someone tell me what’s the correct fuel pump for a 13/60. Just ordered one from James Paddock. It looks like it will need a spacer and the input fuel line changing. The output looks like it will take a standard 1/4 barrel olive but the input side looks like it need some type of olive / fitting. The bottom of the hole looks tapered. johny
Sounds like the correct one with both screwed olive connections and no spacer needed but have you got a herald engine fitted?
andyshep
The new fuel pump will need a spacer the old one didn’t.
Colin Lindsay
Paddocks sell both spacer and non-spacer types, and each type is listed as requiring spacer, or not. If it's incorrect they'll probably swap it.
johny
Think the later spacer type doesnt have screwed connections ..

johny
Not sure why Andy thinks the pump he has like this needs a spacer or whether he needs the two screwed connections?
andyshep
Spoke to James Paddock yesterday and he says there are only 2 pumps. One with screw connectors and one with tails. The tail type needs a spacer. I have the one with screw connectors, there’s know way it will fit without a spacer. Trying to fit it with the cam off, it pushes on the lever. With the cam at full lift you can’t bolt the pump back to the block. I removed the studs and bolted the pump on with longer bolts and turned some 1/2” spacers on the lathe. The pump works perfect. I’ve checked the engine number and it’s comes up as early 13/60 which is correct. So no idea what’s the issue.
Colin Lindsay
Possibly just in his stock (never had any problems with Paddocks, by the way) but there are two different pumps, one spacer and one non, and also two different types of connector, pipes and screw-in, depending on the manufacturer, so you can find either pump with either connection. You need the short-lever pump, the long arm version with the spacer was only originally for late Spitfires but is still available online with screw-in connectors, and yes it will work on a Herald engine with a spacer - so as long as you get the fuel line connected properly there shouldn't be a problem.
