Colin Lindsay
I called in to this show this morning as I was in the local area, and had a great breakfast in a local cafe before heading down to the fields. I didn't bring the Herald, in fact I was in the BMW and was asked on entry if it was an exhibit - to which I replied that at 26 years old it was much too young. I should have remembered that over here we have cars less than five years old that always manage to squeeze in as their owners believe they're 'classic' and yes there were some here too. Some nice Triumphs (No Heralds), plenty of other interesting stuff, and some oik with a fluorescent mint-green thing with a huge exhaust that was revved constantly in clouds of black smoke until he was either asked to leave, or got bored in under an hour - either way he scorched off up the road with a lot of noise and the day settled down to burgers, coffee and stationary engines. Some lovely Triumphs, but I don't get the Northern Ireland thing of exhibiting your car then camping round it with bbqs, tables and chairs so that no-one can get near it to admire or photograph it. I'm also glad that I left early, as the field was already starting to soften and cars were getting bogged down in mud.
Colin Lindsay
Funniest post of today: someone posted a pic of their classic with the message 'A Great Day Out - thanks." Someone else posted: "Didn't see your car?" to which the original poster replied: "I couldn't make it..."
Josef
Interesting. That black Dolly looks like it might be the same special last edition model as I saw on Saturday. They were the only Dolomites offered in black with that silver stripe and silver upholstery, apparently a parts bin raid to get rid of stock before the launch of the acclaim. Didn’t get a good photo myself as there was someone sat in it. (Don’t quite understand why people do that at shows, especially in a black car on a hot day!)
