Andrew
Hello guys my 13/60 has always started on the button even after a winter lay up. This year after a long cranking time no fuel was getting through. So after sucking the fuel through the car started. I experienced this agin if I leave the car for a few weeks without starting it. If I leave it only a few day no problem starting. Could this be fuel pump related problem Andrew
johny
It could be the valves in the pump not sealing properly or it could be air getting in somewhere in the suction pipework from the tank. When you have fuel through disconnect the carb pipe so it can discharge into a container. Also disconnect coil and spin engine on starter to confirm that fuel squirts out in good pulses... Andrew
Thank you I will try that
Pete Lewis
please also check security and condition of the short fuel hose off the top of the tank being hidden from view these go hard and suck air , very common culprit in herald/vitesse fuel pumping pete
Andrew
Would you believe it that little hose in the boot was loose and yes it was sucking air in. thank you all
johny
That would do it but still worth doing the test out of interest. Even if good at least you know what it should do if theres a problem in the future👍
Pete Lewis
that little hose has caught so any out i like the simple fixes pleased it pointed you to the culprit Ha ! suprisingly as there is no head of fuel you rarely get any pong in the boot to alert you Pete Edited June 3 by Pete Lewis
