Straightsix
Good morning Peeps, I have a pair of rear door cappings I wish to refit to my mk2 saloon Can anyone provide me the length of the chrome fixing bolt, measured from beneath the head to the end of bolt and also the dimensions of the long spacer tube that inserts through wooden door capping please. ( I have the sprung washer and shorter shouldered spacer to use ) Thanks for your help Steve
Colin Lindsay
The shank of the bolt, from the underside of the domed head to end, is 1 1/4 inch. The unthreaded shoulder section is 3/8 then it tapers to the threaded section. Sadly I don't have any longer spacer tubes.
Straightsix
Thanks Colin the chromium bolts I found from my stock confirms what you described. I think I have the dimensions of the tubed spacers required now too. So I think I’m all sorted 😄 Cheers.
Colin Lindsay
Glad to hear that, I hope you understood the 3/8" refers to the length, not the size / width! I just read it back and it wasn't completely clear even to me.
Straightsix
I found a couple of these bolts similar to what you described, although these are 1 1/2” in length I can cut down if nec. Cheers.
Colin Lindsay
This is the one I measured, slightly different to yours with longer shoulder section.
