SpitfireGeorge
Hi Guys, Just fitted a new fuel pump. Am I correct in placing the pump lever on top of the camshaft as it appears it can fit on top or below? Cheers Brett
johny
yes the lever has to be pushed upwards by the cam lobe so that inside the pump the opposite end pulls the internal diaphragm downwards...

Peter Truman
If fitted bellow it could snap the lever off falling into the sump, Ask me how I know??

Pete Lewis
yes always poke the lever thro the hole so it rests against the cam get it hooked under the cam will lead to disaster pete
SpitfireGeorge
Hi Guys, Further fiel pump question. Do you need to prime the pump before it will work? Cheers, Brett
johny
A good pump shouldnt need priming as it produces a vacuum that will pull the fuel through from the tank and using its manual lever, if fitted, is most effective. However a higher level of fuel in the tank will help and also of course an absence of any air leaks in the suction pipework👍
