claxton
One job finished lovely weather cruising along horrendous scraping noise from rear when accelerating intermittently. Disengage clutch rev engine everything fine. Ok for a few miles then noise back again. Next day put the car up on ramps wriggling about underneath (getting too old for this) can’t see anything. Off the ramps jack up rear check wheels bearings drive shafts remove wheels check around hubs. Can’t find anything. Put car back on ramps started the engine all of a sudden strange rattling underneath. Seem to be coming from one of the silencers. Flexing one of the silencers caused noise to disappear and reappear. The heat shield on top of the silencer had become untacked in one corner producing a pretty horrendous vibration when it felt like it. I was lucky it showed up when it did otherwise I’d be none the wiser. Perhaps I can relax and enjoy driving my stag in this beautiful weather. Enjoy the summer everyone! Iain T
We are all plagued by rogue noises. Sometimes 'cured' by turning the radio up 🤭. Happy driving Iain
