Pete Lewis
not feeling ;like i i want to wash the 2000 last week i (stupldly) went to the local wash run by god know who but do a good job generally well the snow foam wash has deposited the whole car with more rain spot than a monsoon wrecked the car having tried all my collection of cleaners and polishing mops proved a waste of time just made a gunge you cant polish off decided today that the coverage was due to the snow foam as its everywhere, the only solution apart from fire is use what they applied to dissolve the residue so a quick trip to halfords trade card and yes bottle of snow foam is lifting the offending whitewash more work to do but this is a task not revered or expected so being stupid has caused a lot of grief. its old celly this stuff doesnt like , so dont get lazy and cause a nightmare had i been on top of the world i would never have trundled down the road , just got me bucket and sponge to work there is a lesson here Pete
Colin Lindsay
I 'borrowed' a quantity of cleaning solution from the MT garages at work many years ago; got about a litre of it in an old plastic lemonade container. Put it in the shelf in the garage and over about two days it ate its' way out through the plastic, then destroyed everything on that shelf, and the one below, and the one below... it was renowned for eating the rubber seals off the cars, Lord only knows what it did to the paintwork. I've found Tesco Snow Foam to be very good, no waxy residue to put grey streaks on the paint like their Wash N Wax stuff does.
Pete Lewis
the final DIY solution from whats on the shelves was use a old battery 12v twin wheel polisher and T cut leave to dry this turns the white spot into a gooey paste, a waterless polish used to clean off the residue followed by BRASSO on the polisher and a wipe off when dried , stubborn to shift but hey presto a shiny car appears we are as of today back to normal . a good wash tomorrow.... weather dependant .... followed by a decent waxing and we are done , never to be repeated Pete

dougbgt6
I took my dad down to Newcastle Hospital for cateract surgery. Surprised to find no hand santitiser dispensers. They'd been taken out because the locals had been popping in with a cup of orange jucie for a shot of sanitiser. Doug

Stokers mixed it with warm milk in the Boiler Room of HMS BULWARK some fifty something years ago. I know, what's a Boiler Room and what's a stoker? Pulling and changing burner`s in turn as demand for steam changed, was a hot sweaty job, which would kill most of to-days younger people. Stokers, earned every penny of their pay. Sorry back to "swinging the lamp". Must be time for Breakfast?. Pete Edited July 15 by PeteH
Dick Twitchen
Pete, your mention of burners reminded me that BULWARK's Boiler rooms were pressurised and if the the air lock discipline at the entry at the top of the space was not followed the flames would roar out. More than a surprise it was the cause of a major fire back in 1971 iirc and where possible reinforced going down ladders facing forwards so you could see the flames/flood! Matelots dits..... Dick 2024 definition: A stoker is someone who comments in online forums to cause argument then disappears before receiving any retribution.
