Colin Lindsay
I've been debating a Standard 8 for a while just as a totally unnecessary fun car, and this one is about 40 miles away, with a local registration... but £1200 in that condition??? Seller claims four new tyres... I sincerely hope it's not on the road as MOT-exempt! I could be seriously tempted as a long-term restoration project though. This one is worse, looks like it's been left to die but the seller wants a massive £1500 for it.
GFL
Colin They both look rough, the Standard 8 is probably more saveable at first glance, being inside would have helped it. Is that an hole in the front wing of the Dolomite, if so I bet its rotten underneath and beyond saving😓 Are you making an offer? Gary

Gary It's actually a Toledo and the price has now been reduced to £1000, literally within the last few hours. Wheelarches and wings would point to serious rot. I may ask the Standard seller for more photos, but I think it's vastly overpriced for what I can see already, and requires an amount of bodywork or at least replacement panels if available. I may get my mate in the trade to bully him down substantially on price, he's got form for that!

Looks like a 'D' for Dolomite on the 'C' Post and its got the longer boot, a later base model 1300 at a guess. Whatever it is, I reckon it's only suitable for spares, now if it was a Sprint £1,000 would be a good price (For spares) Gary
Pete Lewis
back in the 70s i used to repair my bank sub managers Standard 10 put the jack thro the floor hole at the B post and the floor lifted the car didnt & it wasnt that old then heck knows what a old derelict one is like on the underside but its got a Boot lid thats a plus but the 803cc motor is not that of a go getter Pete

It's for gentle pottering about on country roads if it ever actually sees the open road. Someone posted recently on a Herald Facebook group that the 1200 Herald is too dangerous for roads these days. As opposed to what? Cyclists, horses, pedestrians, learners?

The ad says Toledo, I never saw the badge - probably too overwhelmed with the rusty bits. This one's a Sprint, fifteen miles from me, better condition. (I think!!) Still too modern for me though.
