Blakes73
I'm mid way through a restoration of a Mk3 GT6. I've replaced the floor and with it the triangular bracket that's welded to the bulkhead and bolts to the chassis outrigger. The last repair was a complete mess and the plate on the triangular bracket, that sits under the floor pan was non existent. I was wondering if these 'plates' were originally welded to the floor pans for extra strength or do they just sit against the floors? Also front of the door gap to the wing/bonnet how big was the gap from factory? Regards~

Now you've started me thinking.... would a 'tab' on the underside to weld to the floorpans be necessary, given the strength of the welds to either side? Would it help? This guy has repaired the same area on a Spitfire, some good photos: http://www.roundtailrestoration.com/2018/04/triumph-spitfire-body-repair-50.html

I might drill a couple of holes and plug weld them. They're very handy to hang a new floor pan off when you're setting up to weld a new one in, other than that I can't thick why the tabs would be there if they weren't supposed to be welded in?
