Craig Simister
Hello My 72 GT6 MK3 ignition lock is starting to be a problem and I am having trouble putting the key into it. I need to replace the lock assembly, can anyone recommend a seller to purchase one from. I fear it will fail very soon and at the most inconvenient time! Many thanks Craig
Stratton Jimmer
The PO of my Mk3 told me that he had just fitted a new lock which came from Paddocks of Chester. It seems absolutely fine.

Many thanks Craig Could it be that the key is worn and not the lock so it might be possible to get a new one made? If not I take it this is a steering column mounted lock which are not as simple as the earlier dash mounted ones. There seems to various types and they were installed with shear bolts so it wont be an easy job to change. You can check on Rimmerbros with your chassis number to identify which is yours and then maybe look around to compare prices as theyre not cheap....
rlubikey
Craig, get some dry PTFE lubricant such as the WD40 stuff below and try to get your lock working before you replace it. The solvent washes out any gunge, then evaporates leaving the PTFE powder to lubricate your lock. Plus, when you put the key in your pocket it isn't covered in oil like if you'd tried 3-in-One etc. Cheers, Richard
