MJH2454
I'm looking to buy a short engine for a 1500 Spitfire, Canley Classics list them but despite many telephone attempts I can't get to speak to anyone. Ideally I want to buy a short engine, with reprofiled camshaft as MK3 and Duplex timing gear, any recommendations as to where else I can go, I have the short engine for rebuild so dont need to purchase outright. In and around Central England would be useful Thanks
Paul H
Have you tried Quiller Triumph http://www.triumphshop.co.uk/Quiller/Parts/engines and heads.htm I have no connection though would be very interested in any feedback Paul
Steve P
Quiller used to have a poor reputation, don`t know if that has changed. Try Ivor Searle, I believe they used to do the club ones. https://www.ivorsearle.co.uk/Products-Services/Engines Steve
Nigel Clark
Try Ivor Searle. They are a reputable engine remanufacturer with a department specialising in classic engines. The TSSC shop used to supply recon engines from Ivor Searle. https://www.ivorsearle.co.uk/Products-Services/Engines Nigel

Perhaps COMS could update us Paul

Perhaps COMS could update us Paul I have visited Ivor Searle a couple of times in the past 5 years, once for a Spitfire engine rebuild and again for an unleaded cylinder head conversion on the Essex V6 in my Scimitar. On both occasions I was impressed by their work. It may be that the club shop stopped supplying due to logistical issues. Lack of core stock was becoming a problem, so rather than supply exchange engines from stock, customer's own units needed to be reconditioned. I would be very surprised if there were problems with quality. Just my opinion as a satisfied customer. Nigel 1
Pete Lewis
Ivor's is a brilliant place where every move/change result is recorded the whole system is to remanufacture not recondition there's difference you will get a remanufactured specification not a recon Pete

Try calling their classic engine department to discuss your required specification. Ivor Searle used to offer 'stage 2' engines which were balanced, hotter camshaft, high compression etc. They may be able to build the engine you need. Alternatively, go to TRGB who will rebuild your engine to an agreed specification, and they use Ivor Searle for all the machining. Nigel
MJH2454
Credit where credit is due. Despite my initial post and the comments relative to Canley Classics within. I must say that I have been in touch with Canley's placed my orders and have had excellent communications from thereon.
