Witsend
Hello I'm Richard. I live in East Sussex and currently don't have a Triumph in my life. It looks like I'm going to live until I'm in my 140s as I'm experiencing my 'mid life crisis' in my 70s! The first Triumph I bought was a Herald paid for by a nice shiny new Barclaycard which had arrived in the post that day back in the early 70s. I had been given a spending limit of a massive £150 and had immediately used up £134 to buy the car! I then went on to spend £15, I think, on a Vitesse bonnet from a Bushey Breakers in Wood Green North London. I promised myself that one day I'd buy a proper Vitesse. Time moved on and many many cars later, over 65 in fact, I started to feel the urge to buy myself a classic. I was recently in Hospital and whiled away the days surfing the internet. Normally YouTube, AutoTrader, and eBay. I was looking at cars on eBay and came across LUO735F a white Vitesse Saloon which had had various 'upgrades' carried out on it. I loved the car straight away and it wasn't that far away from me in Crawley, Sussex. I decided it was the one for me and was going to purchase it. I then decided, stupidly, to wait until after my stay in hospital so I could go and see it. A few weeks later I came out of hospital and set about locating the car. To my absolute horror it had been sold! I sent a message to the seller asking him to contact me if the sale went wonky. No contact came. So if you are the purchaser or you know where in the UK the car is please send me a message. Meanwhile I think I'll start to list the previous 65+ cars I've owned. In the correct section of course. Colin Lindsay
It's currently taxed and presumably MOT exempt to August 1st 2025. Sadly it looks like the new owner is on the road!
Pete Lewis
when you make a list of owned cars its frightening adding up the costs is a nightmare best avoided Pete
Witsend
Thank you for responding. I think it was sold in late June or July. It was a driver so it would have needed tax to be driven away. I've suspended listing my previous cars as it's too depressing just how many duffers I seem to have purchased in the past.

I've owned my GT6 for 46 years and I know it's registration number. The rest, I don't remember and that includes my Fiesta, but I've only owned that for 4 years. martyn wright
Not as good as me! I moved from Devon to Wales and my Vitesse 1600/6 went to my cousins garage in Hereford, as we had no where to garage it! 10 years later, telepnone call telling me he was moving! And could I collect the car? I said "what car" lol 😆 had to sell my gorgeous VW karman Gia to build the vitesse!

Witsend Posted Sunday at 06:30 Author Report Share Posted Sunday at 06:30 Thank you all for your responses. Life is strange and for all my planning and searching I've now gone and purchased a 1963 mk1 1600 non overdrive single dial Vitesse! 🥰 Looking down the list of ‘purchasing must haves’ I can only tick one entry that being stainless steel exhaust! However, the car is beautiful and, rather frighteningly, my wife has gone and given ‘him’ a name already. I’ve only had it for 2 days! He’s called Herbert! Now this isn’t altogether a bad thing as it will probably mean I should get ‘budgetary approval’ for future spends. He is original and has been restored over the last two years. He has been resprayed in his original gunmetal grey and white. He’s a two previous owner car with 64450 miles on the clock. There is some documentation available for me to believe the milage might be genuine. So goodbye LUO735F. I was obviously destined to miss my chance in purchasing you and thanks again to all who responded to this post. Oooh and take no notice of the classified ad I’ve entered for the next edition of the Courier. 😚
