des789
I'm having my Park Royal Estate (1970 Mk2) restored. I've been having an email conversation with Autosparks about getting a new wiring loom. My question is whether the loom will be a Vitesse Mk 2 saloon or whether the Estate body from a 1360 requires any modifications. I guess this is the same question as whether a 1360 Estate wiring differs from a 1360 saloon? Photo attached for fun - the chassis was originally painted body colour (Saffron) Thanks Des
JohnD
Des, Yours is original, mine was 13/60 estate converted. A 13/60 estate is exactly the same length as a Vitesse. Just needs an additional wire put in for a courtesy light in the back if you go Vitesse. John
Colin Lindsay
The loom splits in two at the passenger side of the dashboard; in front of that it's all standard Vitesse. From that point on rearwards, the rear half of the 13/60 estate loom should be fine. I've just rewired my 1200 estate and the rear half of the Autosparks loom is made in one long piece, whereas the original estate loom had a small separate loom section which went up and across the roof at the rear with bullet connectors at either C-post to which the rear lights connected. The choice is yours as to whether you want to feed it up across the roof or else along the floor under the load area boards but above the petrol tank; it will do either. I used the roof loom which was already in place from when I had removed the roof and just coiled the longer sections safely behind the rear trim boards. The rear numberplate illumination will require feeding through the rear of the roof and down the estate rear hatch, so you may need to disturb the roof lining to get at it. The rear courtesy light had also been rewired in advance before the roof lining was fitted but you can get at the wiring here if the light unit is removed. des789
Thanks. I've responded to Autosparks suggesting Vitesse front loom and 1360 Estate rear.
Josef
The factory Vitesse will’ve had reversing lights. Are they deleted on your estate? That’d be the only difference I could think of that you might need to add in.

Easy to add but no point in paying Autosparks for a loom when they can add it in themselves.

Josef Posted Sunday at 11:52 Report Share Posted Sunday at 11:52 I spoke to Joe at the local area meeting today, he also has a Park Lane Vitesse estate. His does have a combined number plate / reversing lamp unit in the same style as the other Vitesse models.
ahebron Posted Monday at 05:47 Report Share Posted Monday at 05:47 If you can get them to add extra wires to the loom going from the bulkhead to the rear of the car. Handy for future additions of any electrical device to the car. Under the bonnet wiring is easy to add to I would also reccommend running a couple of neutral wires from the battery to different points of the car. Using the body for a return path is not the best of ideas especially with the way the small chassis Triumphs are constructed. Just my 2 cents worth.
