Colin Lindsay
Hi y'all. I haven't needed front coil springs in many years, so am out of the way of looking for them. On a Club run yesterday it was noticed that one of my front springs is down maybe three inches on the other, and whilst a visual inspection hasn't revealed any damage I won't know the cause until I get a chance to remove them and inspect later. In the meantime I'm pricing replacements - basic road coil springs, nothing uprated or fancy - but am surprised that some sellers are marking them as unavailable yet others have them in stock. This makes the alarm bells ring immediately - are other suppliers selling a 'one size fits all' spring for Spitfire, Herald, etc, or is it just a localised problem with one supplier? Rimmers have them, TSSC Shop, Paddocks or Canleys don't, and none of the latter are suggesting a Spitfire version as an alternative, which both cheers me up but makes me wonder what everyone else is doing these days? I'm buying from Rimmers - order just gone through - in hopes that they at least are selling the correct spring as I don't want the car sitting too high at the front. Thoughts, comments or pointers, any and all?
Josef
The club shop does list Herald ones https://shop.tssc.org.uk/product/herald-std-road-springs-pair-sp91 and does seem to list Vitesse / GT6 and Spitfire ones separately. I did have to search for ‘springs’ to bring the info up though, trying to browse from the Herald parts pages didn’t get me there…
Colin Lindsay
I looked for them under the 'Suspension' then 'Herald' section, and nothing came up. Club Shop Website seems as confusing as ever then, as when I didn't find them there using the drop down menu for 'Herald' I bought from Rimmers instead. Jon J 1250
I would be interested to hear if anyone can answer this question, as I thought too that current springs are one size fits all. For this reason I reused my original springs when I refurbished my front suspension, even though I'd have liked to fit new springs.
