pugwash
Hi all from the teeny-tiny land of Luxembourg. Not content with getting old gracefully I just bought a 1981 Spitfire 1500, my wife does Pilates so I do contortions getting in and out of the new jewel, speaking of which the grandottie wanted to sit in it, it got the 'cool' seal of approval but apparently grandma was later told that it seemed small - she is 8 (grandottie, not grandma) so what chance does a fat slob with arthritis have? As far as 4-wheeled money pits go I have owned a 1975 Daimler XJ6 4.2L before, a wee bit different to the Triumph but probably more expensive to repair and maintain. I suppose you would like a pixie of the new toy? Stoopido questions will be posted anon. Cheers.

pugwash
Thank you for the welcome, I was a little worried whether I might get the 'oh no another old bloke with a 1500' treatment (only joking). Apparently it is, yesterday I took it to a garage who have experience with old, even older, cars for a check. The mechanic kept saying how good it was rather than tearing into it, thank goodness. I live in a touristy spot and from my balcony I can see where the car is parked, amazing how many people stop and look - of course these days the inevitable smartphone is whipped out. A lot of these new fans then walk around the car trying to work out what it is, in the end I printed out an A3 sheet with the name, age and technical details on and put that in the windscreen. It is all original, it has only done 92.000km and is absolutely spanking on top and importantly underneath.
